Can't decide! Crazy or stupid or both??

Well Hi,

We are from Blackburn in Lancs, Uk.
Lisa (36) Paul (37) and Lloyd (17) and Maddison (13)
Also (and causing me most of the worry!!) Xander, 7yr old mongrel with mental problems and Neo, 3 yr old Cocker Spaniel with seperation issues!!

I have been reading these forums and others with interest for 6 months, they are totally invaluable........I didn't realise all of the pit falls and traumas!!

We had decided on Adelaide because we didn't have enough points for elsewhere, but i believe the points system has changed again?? (think we were only 10 points short!) plus we have had an uncle pop up who is willing to sponsor us!! I don't really know where we stand now....i don't really want to put 40 thousand into a government bond if there is any way around this!! But as soon as i've got things straight in my head, everything changes again!! My brain's like bubblegum!!

Paul has an MBA so has sent off the documents to be assessed. That's where we are up to!! Got both our houses on the market (in Uk and Cyprus) but really worried about finding a DECENT rental with 2 crazy mutts!!!!

So that's us....for starters!!

Lisa,xxxxx

If you go to SA - Adelaide, you can do a SIR or STNI visa, where the pass mark is much lower (70 i think)
We are going on an SIR to Adelaide, as OH Job doesn't quite fit into a nice neat box, and we didn't want to invest it was that or go on a student visa to Brissie, but that works out expensive and has its limitations.
So Adelaide it is. Strangely i hadn't considered adelaide before, but now i think its perfect for us.

Thank you very much Dawn, it's vetassess......how long do you think we will wait to hear??

And also thanks to Leanne, sounds like we are in a similar possition! Paul is an 'Operations manager'....so can work within most fields, I just worry about there being work for him!!

Like i said before, another worry is accommodation with the dogs!!

Any more help or tips will be gratefully received!!

Lisa,x

Hi Snoo's and welcome to the site. We got skills assessment through from Vetassess last year - I think it took about 6 weeks from start to finish go good luck! I have got an Aunty and Uncle who have retired to Adelaide. They love it. We visited there on our trip last year and really liked it as well but like you have got family sponsorship so are hoping to head to Melbourne early 2008.
Good luck!

Can't really help with the visa questions as we are going a different - and bloody expensive route, but just wanted to say welcome.

Probably won't just be the mutts that are crazy by the time you get to go!!!!

Good luck with it all.

Jean

Thanx to everyone for the kind words.....but Jean, i don't think i'll EVER be as crazy as the mutts....although i'll let you know in few months!!
Leanne....well this SNIRLTVSRL or WHATEVER the flipping different visa's are just baffles me!! We have been on the migration agents websites which say 70points for Adelaide but the official immi website says 110 points for the regional visa! (Please correct me if i'm wrong!!) Which i think is the one where you can invest 40,000 pounds in a government bond for 12 months to get 5 extra points!!
Can anyone help me with this question.....if we have a family sponsor, do we have to live near that family member?? They are in central Sydney and not being a millionaire i don't think we could afford a cardboard box there!!
I have been trying to find the answers to my questions on the gov website, but sometimes they are hard to find and then when i do find them they are sometimes a little vague....so please excuse my thickness!!

Don't worry the immi site/visa's are a nightmare and will all be changing again soon... so more confussion for us all!!!
with regards family sponsor... no you don't need to live nearby. Sam (samozsoon) has got her visa this way...she is in Brissi at the moment validating it.... why don't you PM her i am sure she can offer advice!!

oh, and welcome to the site
