snakes

Hi there guys roberta and mikes friend here just wanted to know when we vist them if we let them emigrate would i see lots of snakes slithering about !!! Hope the weather is nice and you are enjoying your austrlian adventure(mike said i had to type something nice after my question)

only if they decide to live in Australia Zoo!!!! we live in a semi rural area on 2 acres and have only seen one tiny harmless one so you should all be ok.as for your 'nice' bit,,its bloody freezing and just stopped raining after 3 days solid!!!

You should worry, it hasn't stopped raining here for 3 weeks, bloody freezing and we are in SUMMER!!

Snakes - have to say I have a total phobia about the b things, can't even look at a photograph of one. However, we have been going back and forth to Aus for the last 20 years and to date, I have never seen one. Having said that of ourse, I never go bush (not even across a lawn with my boots on) and try not to look down in case one should be lurking. Although, to be honest, I was soooooo brave in March and walked through a park that had snake warning signs up - just looked up at the birds in the trees all the time and tried not to think about Hissing Sid lurking in the undergrowth.

My son loves snakes and this is what he tells me! Don't know what you do if you see a snake that have none of these colours.
If you see one you supposed to stay still and move away slowly (i'd be inclined to run) but apparently if you run your the prey .............

These colours are normally associated with coral snakes and not necassary water/sea coral just what they are called, an the way i heard it was :-

Red an black VENOM lack,

Red an yellow DANGEROUS fellow,

No disrespect to your kid though he probably got the up to date version.
