New to the Gold Coast

Hi everyone,
My partner (welder/plumber/gas fitter) my 14 month old daughter and myself (pre-school teacher/fitness instructor) moved to the Gold Coast April 2007, currently living in Robina.
Only been here 2 months and we are both working, had to put our little one in daycare for the first time (which was heart rendering)
We are really making good use of the surf clubs cheaper food prices and of course the beautiful beaches, if a little colder at the mo.
Jus

Hi Jus,

How lucky of you to be in Robina, we are hoping to head out in August visa permitting. Our family live in Clear Island Waters and my hubby has a job in Burleigh Heads. We have 2 girls nearly 3 and 8 months and hope to settle around in Robina/Merrimac type area. If you want to I have a Gold Coast Arrivals list going (link at bottom of my signature) I can add your details and we have hoping to arrange some meet up's. T in Brisvegas is arranging a meet up soon.

Can I ask what sort of cost you pay for your little one in Day Care? My oldest going 3 sessions a week at the moment and I am concerned that she wont get any stimulation due to her not starting Pre School till 2009.

Hope your settling in well.

Em x

Hi Em
You will just love it here, we really like Robina, its not far from all facilities, the beach the shops and the mountains!!
I am a Montessori teacher and I am currently working at Mudgeeraba montessori child care centre, about 5-10 mins from Robina, depending which end of Robina you are at, they are fantastic there, I have just been offered another job working with Autistic children as a team leader so I am really looking forward to starting that.
As Cal mentioned you can get help from Centrelink payments depending on your income, which helps. As I have worked in lots of child care environments I would visit a few before making your choice as you will get a good feel for the right one.
Looking forward to meeting you, keep in touch
Jus
