questions on medicals

hi, just wondering does anybody know that when you go for medicals, do you have to take the childrens little red medical books with you, as we have mislaid our eldest daughters who is nearly ten?. also i heard that if you have had an operation in the past so many years you have to have a report on it from your doctor to take to your medical, dont know if this is true, i had a hearnier op a year and a half ago.

Hiya you will need the childrens red books ,you also need them for a few things when in Oz ,,maybe see if you can get a replacement off the health visitor or GP.If the operation was donkey years ago and dosnt affect you in any way i dont think id bother with specialist letters, but if its a reacurring problem or long term illness i would get a letter from your specialist ready to take with you ,hope this helps a bit

hi Kaz My Daughter Is 10,we Had Our Meds In May And Didnt Even Give It A Thought About Her Red Book,we Didnt Take It,and Wasnt Asked For It,in Fact Her Medical Was Less Invasive Than Ours, with Just An Examination And A Urine Test, No Blood Taken And No X-ray Needed.
my Sister Is In Perth And Her Daughter Had To Have A Mole Removed Shortly After They Arrived, and She Wasnt Asked For The Little Red Book. Hope This Helps.
good Luck.

KAZMATT

I took our red book but they didn't even bother with them. I think we just had to state that the vaccinations were upto date. Having said that our little boy had not yet had his mumps injection but I took along the payment to prove he had an appoinment for it to be done. For our children it was just weight, listen to chest and look into eyes /ears.

Our youngest had some investigations after illness last year and they did want to see the medical reports for this. I just put it in writing to our doctor and they sent them straight to the place we had our medicals done. The doctor at the medical centre requested them so I should think unless yours does there is nothing to worry about.

good luck

Michelle

It's not necessary for the medicals but you will need to have something to confirm all the immunisations that your children have had for when you get to Aus. We had to show the book at school and the immunisation page was photocopied for the childrens records.

You have to declare any operations or medical interventions. It's good to get any letters as this won't hold up the process. I had renal investigations (no operation) in '99/2000 and provided letters

Centrelink will not contribute towards child care unless you have a redbook to proove all immunisations are up to date.My sons primary also asked to look at this as did medicare when we signed up ,,i wouldnt risk travelling here without one it will be easier to a copy whilst still in the uk ,hope this helps
