Smile Were off to Brisbane the wonderful Brisbane of Oz

Sorry about the title. Just found this brilliant site. We are nearly there just waiting for our adopted sons pasport and then should get the grant in the next 3 weeks. I know we will have some question before we get there and the idea of meeting people in the same situation sounds great. We will be heading to the sunshine coast as we have been there several time, Buderim is a lovely place. One of our questions will be around the education system, our son will be 4 this week and when we get there (hopefully in August) he will start full time in January. How good is the state system compared to the private system?

we are putting our 2 into private( hopefully ), a private school will allways provide more facilities and bettter care/teaching. Although its upto the individual children and their abilities to whether they benifit from it, also the role of the parents in nuturing each individual childs knowledge plays a part in how well they will do.
Intelligent kids will do well in an average school, average kids will be average unless they are pushed a little this is where a private school comes into its own. Smaller class sizes can mean more time can be spent on those who may need a little more help, goverment run schools you will nearly allways find more pupils per teacher than a private one.
