Flying to Australia from UK

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what airlines are the cheapest to use to fly from the UK to Australia.
We are coming over to have a look around and the flights I have been quoted are £1000 each!

Many Thanks

Hi Clare
I believe it varies, one minute one airline can be cheaper than the other. So you really need to shop around for prices!
We went with Singapore airlines and they were fab, not because of the price but what lovely people the staff are!!!
gd luck

Clare

Wee too have booked with singapore, there was not much difference between them and Emirates but they won over flight times. We have paid around £3200 for 2 adults and 2 children going out in Feb next year from LHR to Melbourne but returning from Brisbane. Singapore seem to have a great reputation for service etc lots of people on this site suggest using them. One I wouldn't ever use again are BA the service we have had in the past is dreadful. Some may not be bothered by poor service but with such a long flight I think it matters. There is DialAflight and Expedia to try but to be honest they were not any cheaper than going direct.
When we made our booking there was a problem with Singapores website so we had to ring, make sure they give you the same price as quoted online.

Hope this helps
Michelle

We've flown with both Singapore and Emirates - both good. We chose Singapore this time because of arrival time in Perth being 3pm.

Don't use China Eastern.
The food is crap, the service is poor, you have to wait in the departure lounge in Shangai airport for 6 hours for the connecting flight (off the flight, fill in 3 forms, through customs and security). From what I was told, the return journey hotel was crap (we booked ourselves into the 4 star Ramada, which was very very nice).
I have never known an airline run out of beer and wine 2 hours into a 12 hour flight and have none at all for the remaining 12 hours the following day!
On the plus side, there were the cheapest, but you can see the reason why.

The Tuckers

PS Don't expect to shop in the departure lounge.

Hi Clare,

Not sure when you're thinking of travelling but a quick search for the end of August pulled up fares on Qantas for GBP782 (London to SYD rtn) - cheapest I could find. I think Air New Zealand does some good fares too but its a much longer flight via Auckland.

I've done this journey on BA, Singapore, Thai and Royal Brunei and Singapore Airlines is simply the best. If you're not already a member of bmi's frequent flyer programme then sign up and fly with Singapore Airlines - you will get nearly enough miles for 2 rtn flights UK - mainland Europe or a cheap one-way back to Oz which could come in handy!
