decision made (agents)

Hi there, have made our life changing decision. We are going to proceed, and are going with thinking australia .com.as our agent. Before we part with our hard earned cash, can anyone say if they have used this company and how they found their services. Obviously along the journey there is a need for lots of different services, so any that people have used and can recommend is always a great help. many thanks Jo.

Hi Jo and John

I applied about 2 months ago but am not using an agent to save money. Unless you have a complicated case i would try without, i'm a single parent and havn't found it at all complicated so far and i'm not the shrapest tool in the box :)

all the best, which ever way you apply

Thanks for that, obviously any funds we could save would be of benefit. We are applying for a 136 visa under my husbands job as a bricklayer. I think we have not thought of doing it ourselves in case we make a mistake and get refused because of it. I suppose it is a case of letting someone do something that they know what they are doing, but it comes at a cost. I suppose it is a case of where do we start!! I realise I HAVE POSTED THIS MESSAGE TWICE SORRY FOLKS!!! MAYBE THAT IS A SIGN I WOULD NOT BE THAT GOOD AT PAPERWORK.

Hi

Honestly i'm not that great at paper work either but you can print any foms you need of the website www.australia.org.uk. You need to have the skills assessedfirst... not sure what association you contact for bricklayers but when you find out it will just be a question of printing of the required form and sending to that association in australia. they will then send you a certificate that confirms your assesment. once you have that. You need to print of form 47sk along with form 80 character check just follow all the questions fairly straight forward. include these forms with the skills assesment, passport photos and birth certificates ect all of whichwill need to be copied and then taken to your local solicitor to witness they they are a true copy of the original. solictors usually charge £5 per each document. on the website you can print of a checklist which is really useful. you can tick as you go along to make sure that everything they require is marked off the checklist. if unsure you e-mail them for any advice. Hope i havn't made it sound complicated it really isn't if you do it step by step. I sent mine 2 months ago and they have just taken the payment so i will now wait fro them to ask me to have police checks and medicals. I 'm sure they will advice me on what forms i will need as and when. Good luck. Jac

Hi Jo

I think if I had known about this site before I went with an agent, I would have done it myself. So many peolpe here can help you without parting with your cash.

Have just experienced one of those moments of pure dread when I read this thread.

It stated above that you have to print off and send with the visa application, form 80 which is the character assessment which I haven't sent with mine.

Have just checked in Immi website and you only have to send it when requested if you are outside of Australia.

Cut and pasted for ref:

For the Australian Government to determine whether you are of good character, you may be asked to provide police certificates for each country you have lived in for 12 months or more over the last ten (10) years since turning 16.
If you are applying outside Australia, you do not have to provide this information when you apply. You will be advised when it is required.
If you are applying in Australia, you should provide this information with your application.

Hope you don't mind me correcting you !!
