young lads family in perth, not sure to join them

Both my parents sisters, brother in law and niece have all moved to Butler just outside Perth, so really they have made me homeless :(.
Im 23 single lad with a job i love serving in the Royal Navy and they want me to join them out there but im not sure if its really for me, like what i would do (OZ navy not a option) im a trainied fireman so maybe could do that. Not sure if its the worth the risk of leaving what i know, is there a good night life? is there an local expat football team like ones i have played against for the navy in the likes of Kuwait, Bharain and Africa?
I think i want to go just need someone to help make my mind up as my family wont tell me anything that would make me stay.???

cheers
todd

Hi toddy - have you visited your family in Perth? I don't know about ex pats teams but know the team my young son plays for has some senior teams - so don't think you'd be short of a game. As you're only 23 - it's not something you need to decide on right away - time is on your side, maybe it's something you want to consider when you're ready for leaving the Navy? Only you can decide but good luck

Ali

Todd,

I think i would say give your self a bit more time. You are young enough to hold on if you love the Navy then stick to it for a bit. My Hubbie was in 1 Para for nearly ten years and its a big change coming away from freinds like that. You will miss them, and that can be tough!
TBO i think you will know when you are ready to leave and start again, perhaps start thinking about different courses you can do whilst your still here to help you get a new career with great money prospects in oz!! When you get to a point where you question what you are doing every morning then its time to sign those papers.
One big appeal, the Money is certainly better on civvy street Mark was earning 4x is army wage within 6 months of leaving. Just make sure you train in some thing thats gona get you in.

Leanne

thanks both!
as for the navy i love my job i.e fireman, the Navy on the other hand i dont they treat you like something on the bottom of there shoe. So i thought of fire service or police force out there and if all else fails the OZ Air Force said they would have me as soon as im out!
i know 23 is young but i aint 18 no more im young enough to go out and make something of myself in whatever it is i choose, i coach football back home and knowing the standard is not great i can use that. i go on summer leave soon bit of thinking to do i think.
thanks again
