hi everyone it seems we are doing things back to front we have posted our tra on 23/05/07, but do not know if we have passed yet, and now we have now sold our house.
we wanted to get it on the market ready and see how it goes but we had an offer today,i think its best to get our equity out of the property just incase there is a property crash and all equity is lost. does anyone think this is crazy.

No I don't think your crazy everything is a gamble. We're going on a student visa but can't apply till oct, but we're going to put the house on the market in a few weeks and I hope we get an offer as quick as you so that our money's in the bank and then we can keep an eye on the exchange rate as it's not to great at the moment

Not crazy at all! specially given that market quietens down July/August, you can earn interest on the equity and avoid any possible drop in prices.
Exchange rate was down even further today which is a real bum but l was told on pretty good authority that Oz may drop their interest rates soon which apparently will improve the ex. rate for us. I have no idea how that all works but fingers, toes etc crossed.

Am also really jealous that you've sold your house so quick, wish someone would buy ours!

we've done the same thing - it was cheaper for us to rent for a while than to carry on paying the mortgage. Also it feels good to have a clear out and get rid of all the rubbish you gather over the years!

It's helped the kids as well as they've lived in that house all their lives, it made them finally throw all those McDonald's toys out!!!!

Just hope we pass the TRA.

I think your crazy!!!!!!!

But then so are we...... we started an extenstion on our house, then decided to emigrate! We have never been to Oz, have no job to go to and nowhere to live (as yet) with four kids in tow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like many others on this site!!
So join the PIO crazy club!!! Life is far to short and you have to gamble now and then.... im sure it will all be worth it!!!!
