Jo & John is on a distinguished road
new to site areas.

We are new to site, posted a couple of times yesterday.I am Jo,my husband John, daughter Goergia, (9) and son Louie (7). We have not yet proceeded, but are looking at Perth. So many suburbs, can any of you experienced folks help us narrow down the search, mainly if there are any to avoid, if any!!!!! It all looks beautiful, good schools would be a huge factor in the decision, as I am sure it is to anyone with a family. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the welcome messages, you really are a friendly bunch. The chat room, I wondered what I had stumbled upon, it seems you can only be in there if you can type a thousand words a minute, looks alot of fun, but it was sending me dizzy, will have to try again when I am feeling brave. Have been looking at suburbs on one of the websites called Australian migration, are there any other useful sites to look on? We live in Halesowen in the west midlands to anyone out there local!! (hoping to lose my accent, trouble is had it too long now I think!!!

Hi Jo and John,

You are neighbours of ours! We live in Redditch!

We are moving to Perth and we like the look of Joondalup and the surrounding suburbs. We are interested in looking at the schools but I think until we actually get there and see them for ourselves it is hard to pick one.

If you look at www.aussiemove.com it is really good at showing you the suburbs and has loads of info on schools etc.

Sarah.

Hi Jo and John,

We had a basic ideas of the area we wanted to live - which was sor. I'd got a job in Armadale and didn't want to travel more than half an hour to work because of the shifts. When we got here we drove around every day looking at suburbs and it was silly things that put me off. Bibra Lake for example had electricity pylons very close to some houses.
We'd also moved from a new housing estate in the UK and wanted a change from that too.

We've settled in Leeming and stumbled on it by chance, because we found a short term furnished rental which would take a cat - we're now bought in the area and we really like it. The kids like the school, which is less than a 10 min walk away and the High School is also the same distance in the other direction. We're close to the city (15 mins) and 20 mins from Freo and the beach.

I have heard Armadale is a bit rough but is having major development and also alot of new houses are going to be built. To me, it looks really nice, but I only drive to work and take my daughter horse riding. British Colleagues who live in the area live in Seville Grove, Kelmscott and Rolystone. Forrestdale undergoing housing development too.

Ali

I know exactly what you mean about the chat room - it really scares me!! I think alcohol might have a bit to do with the speed and randomness so I'm saving my next visit till I'm tanked up!
