Hi to the Forum,

We've been accepted!!!!!!!!

Our circumstances are as folows;

1. No confirmed estimated time of arrival. We have literally just had notification of acceptance and visa from the Australian Immigration Department. I am more that willing to relocate quickly dependent on Job Opportunity/Offers, however we have until March 26th 2008 to validate our visa's etc.
2. Both my wife and I have family and friends across Australia (Brisbane, Sydney & Perth), however most of our ties are around Perth, WA and that is where we are likely to migrate. Therefore, it would make sense to pusue opportunties around Perth, WA.
3. The visa status is that we have been provided with; Class BQ Subclass 138 Skilled - Austrlian-Sponsored Visa Myself, Spouse & 3 Yr's Old Daughter
4. Committments are based around us selling our property (This in itself should not be a problem, as the housing market is still very bouyant within the area that we reside and we have a considerable amount of equity within the property). the only other ties are realted to notice periods (4 Wk's), flight availability and the usual emotional jerk from friends and family.
5. We have friends and family across Perth, WA (Joondalup, Iluka, Connolly, Scarborough, Freemantle, Mandurah) whom are all keen to assist.

I hope that this provides an outline of our current status and affords a little background to review and consider

Any advise on anything would be very apprecaited!!!!

Welcome to Poms in Oz!

Congratulations on getting your visa. We got ours on May 1st and still can't believe that our dream is coming true. We hope to be out in September. We are Felicity (teacher) and Michael (HGV driver) going on a 136 skilled visa. We're heading to Melbourne (mornington area) as we have family in Melbourne.

As for helpful hints at this stage I have just one - keep visiting PomsinOz - it's amazing the info you can pick up here without asking for it. If you do have any questions, fire away, between us we should be able to help and if not,we'll have a good try at pointing you in the right direction.

Any thoughts as reagrds to the following;

Best Flight's (We've used Singapore Airlines a few time and loved them...)

Best Removals (Who, Sizes, Times, Cost, Gotchas)

Best Housing/Homes/Locations/Areas/Costs

Try www.realestate.com.au (think that's the right link) it will give you an idea of current house prices.

Get a few quotes regarding removals.

Search old posts on here as there's heaps of info regarding flights and removals

If you've got children also try www.aussiemove.com it gives you links to schools in the suburbs of perth and also a little suburb info too.

Lastly, crack open the bubbly, relax and celebrate your visa - good luck on your new adventure
