Well as some off you might know my wife and my son have been here for five days in sunny brisbane.
here are some pointers for people to survive for the first five days ( well we did these )
1. Before leaving england tell your bank you are going to oz just so if you buy anything overhere they dont stop your card thinking it has been stolen.
2. Have your mobile phone unlocked for any network before you leave uk so that when you arrive you can put any pay as you go sim in it.
3.Book a hotel and a car for when you get here use expedia or just type in hotels in brisbane or where you are going.
4. When you get over here give each other a HUG because all your past trauma is over and your new life starts.
We plan on getting to Brisbane on the 28/07/07. Due to hubby joining ADF we should have some were to stay for the first 4 week fingers cross. Will give us a chance to look around and find somewhere to stay.
You can register for medicare in either brisbane cbd or at the carindale shopping centre
You can apply for your tax file number on line at ato.gov.au and in the top corner of the page type in this number 7780 and it takes you straight to the tfn page to apply for one.
Bring your proof of no claims insurance on your car over here that will be counted by car insurance ppl over here.
