Talking Newbie - RN/RAN Transfer

Heya guys, I just found this site as we are hopefully moving to Perth as an RN /RAN transfer. Just waiting for the job offer and Labour Agreement and all that stuff to go through so we can apply for Visas. I've done a search and there hasn't been many ADF posts for RAN just wondered if there was anyone here has gone to Perth or RAN and has any tips or advice. Thanks for your time

Hiya

There are quite a few people transferring etc - put Aussie Navy in search tab or ADF or similar.

Some have already gone across, some are waiting to...... we are at the waiting to stage - off to Canberra 3rd September. The process for all defence staff is similar, so looking at the tri service side is a good idea!

Hope all goes well - are you dealing with Canberra for the application? Chris? Penny?

Take care

Angie

Hiya

They were over in UK in March - not too sure if you met up with them - they are actively recruiting all over and getting huge results - who can blame them!

If you're waiting for a job offer/conditions of service letter, there are a few bits that you can do this end to help prep for next stage - which Branch is Hubbie in?

The Labour Agreement gets sent from Immigration to Canberra - then they sent it to you - we had our's via email. You'll need to sort a discharge date/letter for when he finishes work - has he PVR'd yet? The Labour Agreement can take around 8 weeks or so to come through, but you'll need to get a letter of discharge - even if it's later on stating the date he's due to leave etc. Once that's sorted you can then submit the Visa Application with the meds and Police Checks etc. There are a couple more forms that Immigration 'may' request too.

We received Job Offer December 6th 2006 - Labour Agreement in Feb 07 and submiited our Visa Application with all of the supporting docs 28th Feb. We got our Visa 1st May and are now in the process of sorting housing and all the Aussie side of things prior to going. I have had some bits delayed due to lack of knowledge of the 'system' and have learned some bits along the way, so if you need any help, please let me know - I may not have the answers, but there are a few of us on here that probably will!!!!!!!!!!

Best of luck with all!!!

Angie

Hubby is a Submariner but was away in March when they came round - we've been toying with the idea for about 18 months now so with all the recruiting it seems the best time to go for it. Just waiting on the nod from the Aussies before he submits his notice on Chris's advice - he's just about to send his medicals back and then Chris says he should PVR. Once its in he's gonna apply for early release on the grounds of a job offer and hope they let him out earlier than 12 months, we're hopeful but who knows with the mob. Chris said he'd work on the LA and job offer whilst they're waiting on the medicals to shorten the timeframe for us getting out. So fingers crossed all round... have you decided on stop overs, and when you are going to ship your stuff and such??

Once the Labour Agreement is sorted, Australia Househas an admin desk for all of this and they will send you the contact details and info packs on the travel and flights etc.

Lateral Recruits go via Malaysian Airlines via KL and you have a choice of Hotels there - I didn't look at this prior to contacting them to arrange ours, so I asked then to choose!!!!!!!! We've got a nice one, but to be honest, I couldn't give a monkey's at thaat stage because we will just want to get there after all the preparation needed. The paperwork for the Visa stuff is pretty much repetition of alot of the intial application.

See

Immigration website - all forms - 47es - 1221 - 160 - 26

Possibly Form 80

These are the forms to complete for Labour Agreement Visa Application Subclass 120 - which is what you're paperwork will state.

We've had a pre-uplift inspection by Allied Pickfords who are contracted to the AHC. I am in the middle of getting rid of loads and listing an inventory - pain in the backside, but got to be done!

Keep receipts foreverything - phone calls to Oz, Postage and eventually the medicals and Visa fees etc. I have Court Order and Stat Dec from previous Marriage for kids etc that I've included in the fees, but don't hold out too much hope in getting that reimbursed. It does all add up though! We even get $650.00 paid back for flying the dog out! The actual costs of that are £2,300! Rather take her than the kids though sometimes.

Once all of you paperwork is sorted and sent, the removals and travel pack with all of the DHA and OAC (Overseas Admin Cell) forms is the next lost of writers cramp. We're getting there though.

My Hubbie is Logs Officer and has managed to keep all of his rank and seniority, which is fantastic news for us. He has made contact with his new boss who is a CMDR and seems soooo laid back and informal. They seem to be very different there and it all seems very appealing at this point in time.

Hubbie finishes in his current job next Friday and then goes on resettlement and ternimal leave. His last day, after serving 21 years in the RN, is the 31st August 2007 - he pledges 3rd September in London and we fly that night.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fingers crossed that your's goes through smoothly and the sanity side of things doesn't effect you too much!

Angie

Thanks for the info its great, hubby has tried to get ahead and fill in the visa and meds forms didnt know about the 1221 though so will check that tonight. Didn't know you got money back for the dog either which is a bonus cos we are taking ours too. Your help this morning has been brilliant, hope all goes well for you and I'm already excited at the prospect, so you being so much further down the line you must be raring to go. Just seems so much to do in preperation, but good to know that the Aussies seem to take care of a lot of it, was beginning to stress at the though of having to pack everything up and load a container on my own.

Hiya

I have 2 kids from Previous Marriage - I am now re-married. We agreed to shared custody in divorce, but that was years ago and times change and things move on. He still sees the kids, albeit for 2 days a month and they are getting older now - My son is nearly 15 and has his own friends etc, so is going off the idea of giving up some of his weekend to see 'Father'.

I went to see a Solicitor who charged my £500 to write a letter to the Courts explaining the situation about moving to Australia and arrangements now regarding access £ etc. He then wrote a letter to Ex to advise him to get legal advice and possibly contact him regarding wording etc. Ex agreed to write a letter giving permission - we said to keep contact - phone/email etc - stopped receiving all forms of Child Support and told him to use it to save up and come out and see kids whenever.

I then got shot of the Solicitor as I found out that I could have represented myself in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For £40.00!!!!!!!!!!!! We asked the Judge (without attending) to attach to original Divorce cert to keep costs down - he did this and granted 2 orders - Permission to Remove Children from the Jurisdiction - Permission to Remove Children form the Country Permanently.

My Step Daughter (Hubbies from previous marriage) is 16 now and we got her mum to write a letter giving permission etc.

The reason I didn't want a STAT DEC and we went for a Court Order for my Ex was because he could have still changed his mind at any point in time and this could delay flights etc - didn't want that! It could have meant that the week before we left, he could have said that he didn't want us to take them - it would have had to go to Court then and we would have had to get the Judge's Permission.

It normally still works out in the favour of the Parent Leaving becasue the Stat Dec was signed, but I don't want anything to delay our plans.

I went to see Solicitor in November last year and the Court Orders came through at the end of January.

I hopethis helps - and you're still awake after reading my life story!!!!!

Best of luck!

Angie

Hi Tasadin

I leave the RAF on 13 Jan 08 and sign on with the Oz Army on 14 Jan 08. Me and Mrs Breezy attended the HC for interview on 26 Sep last year and after quite a bit of pressing, my Letter of Offer came through on 20 Dec. The Labour Agreement seemed to take forever and this eventually came through in the last few days of April. We had already requested the Police Checks and completed our medicals which, for the latter was a bit of a risk as they cost £675 and we would not have been refunded if the Labour agreemnet failed to materialise!

Visa application sent off on 3 May and that was only Frms 47ES and 80 (one for each person over 16), plus supporting documents. I know Angie had to send a 1221 as well, but that wasn't asked for by the Oz Army - I guess that DIAC may ask for it later, but it didn't look any different to the Form 80. Just make sure the forms haven't changed between filling them in and sending them off - they had in our case!

Best of luck

Breezy
