paper work ect

how much paper work did people take over with them???? we have 6 years of bank statements/10 years of tax ect,ect we was just planning to go over with suitcases and at the moment we have 2 big boxes of paper work. could anyone tell me what really inportant to bring...as all this is in my sleeps!!!! thank lee

Yes, me too Lee, nightmare trying to work out what you might need. But you shouldn't need 10 years of tax stuff, 6 is plenty. I think when the time comes I will send most in the container, and just keep a year's bank statements, credit card statements, utility bills etc with me. But let's hope someone who's already moved can give us some advice before our heads are well and truly done in!

We fetched loads of old paperwork and all we have used is a few old utility bills (when applying for rental) and bank details in uk incase you need to contact them,,hope this is ok,,

think the rule of thumb is 3 of each i.e. bank statements/credit card bills/utility bills etc we brought this amount & had no trouble getting a rental and credit card here etc

i just remembered im not sure how uk wills stand if you move to oz (we cancelled our uk will) maybe worth checking out

We brought 6 months worth of bank statements.........last years mortgage statement.......and the final bill from all utilities.
