We flew Cathy to Hong Kong and Thailand and they were great, only used Emirates and Singapore to Oz - both Excellent by dad used BA and Quantas - he liked Quantas but won't use BA again

Hi
We didn't use Cathay when we emigrated but used them a couple of years ago when we came here on holiday and they are excellent so if you can get a good deal with them I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

Hi,

Yep we are using them in three weeks time!!

We have our tickets booked for 02/06/07 with them and got a really good deal. We paid £1578 for 3 adults and 1 child one way.

The only thing is that I don't think they do the extra baggage allowance

We went with Cathay Pacific 3 years ago and they were great then and haven't they been voted the best airline since then? We were allowed 30kgs each from memory and from what I can remember we had to juggle some things around in the suitcases at the check in adn hey allowed us a few kilos over free of charge... WAS VERY HELPFUL ...espec....when my tampax came flying out of one of the suitcases as husband tried to move some things!!! Very embarrassing.

tip for you new aussies

get online and join the qantas frequent flyer program - flights with other airlines including BA count. with the flying back and forth and linked credit cards the points add up and we as a family never pay for internal flights in oz as you accumulate so many points.

its handy too if you need an urgent flight back - you'd pay a fortune normally but with frequent flyers you can usually get something soon on a quiet day.

Cathay used to give you points but i think they've made it so that economy flights don't give you any. pity.
