We're planning to stop over in Tokyo for a week or so on the way over.

We've brought date forward (just can't wait!) but were going to do a reccie before - got some air fares for a trip out stopping in Japan. Differed between about £2k (Qantas - sale on) to £8k!! (think that was Emirites or Singapore) in Nov 07.

Hi there,
On our last trip to Oz we stopped over in Hong Kong (Kowloon) on the way out and Singapore on the way home. Loved both and wouldn't know which one to choose if I was doing it again.
When we move to Oz we are planning on using the full luggage allowance for emigrating and this usually means you can't include a stopover in the journey.
Enjoy whatever you decide upon.
Dee

Smile Stopovers

Hi
When we emigrated to Oz last year we stopped over in Singapore for 3 days (and we did get extra luggage allowance Dee!). We've also stopped over in HK on a previous holiday to Oz and both are great places to visit although I think I would prefer HK if I had to choose again! If you've never been to either place I would just see which airline you get a better fare with and then stop over wherever they stop on the way here......Good luck with it all and enjoy wherever you decide to visit.

We also found it really reasonable to stopover in Singapore - we booked our flights through Flight Centre and they gave us a list of different hotels that Singapore Airlines use in their stopover scheme. There were 3 different price bands to choose from and several different hotels within each band. Our deal also included transfers and we were given a book of vouchers to use whilst in Singapore. A visit to Lucky Plaza is essential for all the souvenirs, etc and be prepared to haggle!!!! You will not believe how many plazas there are along Orchard Road, you can't possibly get around to them all in one day but we were told Lucky Plaza is the most reasonable for a whole variety of goods! Enjoy!!
