Hi Sarah

Wow, off on the 1st october..you must be so excited! We're applying for a skilled work assesment any day now (just waiting for Steve to sort his CV out. Such a long process, and this is just the start!) We saw some stuff on the Tv about Perth and it looks great. Has the whole process been OK for you, or a bit of a nightmare?

We arn't sure where we'll end up yet either. I have the advantage of being married to an Aussie so I've been over quite a few times, stayed with his family in NSW and ACT and travelled the whole E coast from top to bottom and its really tough to decide.
I think we'll end up in Queensland, probably Cairns.
It's extra tough when you have to work out whats going to be best for the children too ( ours are 2 and 8 months)
Looking at house prices on the net has influenced our decision making big time!
Good luck with the paperwork!
Hi
Thanks for that advice. Do you know what web sites are useful to suss out house prices?
Also been wondering how you go about arranging temporary accomodation for when you first arrive-any useful websites that you know of? I know I'm jumping the gun!

Hi Steve and Jools,

I also have the advantage of being married to an aussie and we are hoping to head out to Brisbane early next year, I'm sure you will pick up loads of info on this site.

Hi Jools, We booked our holiday rental through www.pomsinperth.com which is also a forum and has accommodation. Other useful websites are www.aussiemove.com which has really useful info about suburbs and schools etc. You can also book holiday rentals through this site.

Regarding the process of applying the visa, it hasn't been too bad, just long! It seems like nearly 3 years since we decided to go for it but we never rushed the process, just went with the flo. Seems like the assessment part at the moment is happening a lot quicker for people then when we applied. We had our visa granted on 28th November 07 but we didn't want to leave straight away, house to sort out etc.

Any questions please ask.

Sarah
