Confused of Surrey!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say hi, new member and have been reading loads of posts.
Thought we had made our minds up to go south but now looking at the NT.
Anyone have any advice - suggestions - experiences that might sway us?
Would be nice to have an idea of where would be best for the Old Man to get out
there and get some work as we will only have a small amount of savings!!

Been trying to get an idea of expected wages vs cost of living.

OH is a builder
I'm a teaching assistant (don't know if that's going to do me any good!)

Welcome to PIO! Where abouts in the NT are you thinking of heading? If you let us know then I'm sure someone will be able to give you some answers.

As OH is a builder have you considered the humidity he would have to work in? Not sure whether that would be enough to sway you south.

We are heading to Townsville, so NT'ish and the humidity is a concern but we will see when we get there. I'm more worried about the spiders, snakes, jelly fish and crocs (thanks hays!!!).

Hi Lou, thanks for answering. We were thinking maybe darwin? We have been told that the brickies out there start 5ish am and work thru till about 2. We thought that might be workable. Trouble is you don't know I suppose till you get there and we can't afford to visit every place that's been suggested. We just want to go somewhere we can earn a decent living, afford a comfy house, give the kids more opportunities than they will have if we stay here and somewhere friendly! not a small wish list!

Hope someone out there can give us some pearls of wisdom!

we was in aus last year for 8 weeks and did a week in every city so i could tell you a liitle about each..sorry cnt help with the work side

just wondered if you could give us all a few snippets of info about the cities you visitied because you can compare them as you've seen them eg weather, houses, what to do and where to go, costs of living etc if you don't mind
