Hi all - we have been montoring this site for a while now and just wanted to say how useful and comforting it has been to read how others have been going through the same process as us?

We are applying for 136 Skilled Visa. We are currently in the process of waiting for our Police Checks to be returned - we are on day 22? Everyday I go to the post box to see if Postman Pat has delivered but come away disappointed. Its seems by reading past threads that it usually takes the full 40 days.

After that does anyone know how long it takes to receive an decision after the PC have been sent? Also is it ok to scan a copy of the Police Checks or do we need to send the orginals?

Our medicals have been couried to Syndey.

Hi there, our police checks came back quite quick but we didn't really monitor the time. When we had the medicals the medical centre sent them off for us and we sent the original copies of the police checks to our agent.

We had our meds done on the 31st October and the doctors sent them away about a week later. The visa came back as a yes on the 28th November which is less than a month from actually having the meds done. In our case the visa was back in about 3 weeks!

On our way in September/October 2007. We are having a dilemma on picking a date to go. How do you decide?

Thanks Jo n Paul. We'll just keep taking the patience pills for now until they arrive.

Is there anyone out there who is thinking of heading out to Perth at the end of the year like we - would be great to hear from you! :)

Hi, Our PC 's were back in about 2 weeks then when all the info including meds reached Oz it was approximately 4 weeks til we got our visas (We were told 4-6 ) . Our visas arrived monday. Its a really anxious wait but it won't be too much longer. Good luck!

We are thinking of heading out October/November 2007 the start of the Australian Summer! So you never know we could be on the same flight? :)

Are you planning on renting for awhile before buying?

I wondered about the thumbs down icon.... In view of what you have said, I've switched it to the thumbs up if that's OK with you? I can always swap it back again, or swap it for something else, if you prefer, though...

Hi, we are going the 1st October ( thats the date in my head anyway). We have to be there before the 31st October as stated on our visa. We are going to rent out there as we are keeping our house here. We are going to get a holiday let for up to 4 weeks and then look for a long term rental. Hopefully it should all go smoothly to plan ( prob not!).
