Hi just seen the site love but need to ask all the "ladies" how did you transport your personal jewelery I have 10 yrs worth and have insured do i need a letter for customs or any thing else should i infofrm the airline please help or i mayhave to wear it all like Mr T !!!!
I cant wait to get to perth

Thank you i have two vanity cases full and the costume can go in shipping any challenges and i will just war it all like a cross between Mr T s girlfreind and a crazed belly dancer hope all goes well for all of you

I did the same, shipped costume stuff, but things that were treasured, came with us.

Sentimental person that I am, I have written a letter to my children each birthday (which I will give them when they're 21), I brought these in my hand luggage too as I couldn't bare the thought of them going missing.

Anything precious to you be it jewellery or anything else of sentimental value that you just could not bear to lose I would carry with you, everthing else can be shipped. That's what I did......

Question Thank -you all from Pearlynn

Hi and thank-you all its so encouraging to know people who are on the journey to a new life or reached their destination . Did any one use a tax/pension advisor and if so any recomedations?

confused but looking forward to my touch down in Perth

We used Prism xpat for advise re transfer of UK pension. I can't remember how much the fee was - but they do all the running around etc and deal with the pension holders etc. We had an initial meeting with them and then you decide if you want them to do anything.

I carried my most treasured jewellry, photos, bits the kids had made me, etc with me, BUT when we arrived at our OAA (On Arrival Accomodation, in case other states don't offer it), I didn't know where to hide it.

But then I had a brilliant idea hide the jewellry deep amongst the washing in the washing machine. Then, oh yes, I did.

So that's most of my kid's inheritance down the drain - not that they'd have been rich on it! Mind you I bet it was clean.

I would thoroughly recommend insuring everything as soon as your travel insurance runs out...
