Brand new today!

Hello

This seemed like the most friendly of the 'Move to Oz' forums so I thought I take the plunge and actually join!

We are getting the final bits of info together to send off for Skills recogniton (I'm a teacher) and then we'll send off for the actual visa in September. We're using an agency called Migration Matters - anyone heard of them/have any feedback? We're impressed so far but it's always nice to get others' comments.

We're hoping to move to southwest WA. My husband has family in Rockingham so he's well up for the big move. I have days when I can't wait to go and days when I am really not sure! Anyone else get these wobbles?

Are there any teachers out there. Do you know if it's easy for brits to get primary teaching jobs in Australia?

Well that's all for now. Looking forward to hearing from anyone out there!

Alex

hi alex,paul here,
My mate has recently moved to rockingham and he loves it,he is a shopfitter and got work earning $65-70k,his missus is a consultant of some sorts and also picked up work, there friends visited and loved it so much they turned around and up sticks to live there, within a month they had jobs and a mortgage.Apparently there is a great expat community in rockingham (the swingiing pig is the fave local boozer) as well as real friendly locals, the beach is amazing and you get dolphins and penguins as your wildlife.
I am close to moving to sydney as i have been offered a job there, have just to sign the contract and then its all systems go,if it makes you feel any better i have wobbles on a daily basis. I urge you to read REDAUSSIES post,it pretty much sums up why we are doing this,GOOD LUCK

Hi!
Just wanted to welcom you to the forum! We arent applying till march next year (additcted to this site thou) and are off out to Perth and Brisabne for a reckie in February. I want Bris.... Jo would kill me if i went to Perth (lolxx) and i'd miss her lots! but my OH wants perth. I'll win, i always do. I dont know why he bothers arguing with me in the first palce!!! hehehe!
I dont have the wobbles(i like that discription!!) but that will probably change when the visa actually goes off though.
There is a group that meet in the chat room on friday evening around 8pm ish, we have a few drinks (it gets very random towards the later part of the evening) but its great fun, and you will get to know everyone.
Good luck with the visa process and keep us informed

Wobbles?? nah, not me..............hang on, is that when you're undecided, run around with your head up your a###, don't know if you're coming or going, keep arguing with yourself about should you go or not??? oh yeah, I get 'wobbles' a lot.

Welcome, enjoy and share your 'wobbles' with others.

Hi Alex,
This is a great forum - the only problem is you soon get addicted to it and things like housework and doing corrections go out the window! I'm a teacher too (though we are applying through my husband's job as an electrician as that's on the MODL list). I started a thread about teaching in Oz the other day. I'm moving to Brisbane though so not sure if finding work is the same in all states. If you Search for a thread called 'Teaching in Queensland' it may help you a little. Good luck anyway,
Dee

Hi Alex we're hoping to go to Melbourne early next year. Like the girls have said this a very friendly site and no question is a stupid question so feel free to pick the PIO brains at any time.

BTW, Paul I thought you'd written that your mate was a shoplifter - Friday night chat room hasn't warn off yet!!!

LMAO - read this as shoplifter not shopfitter at first...doh it's been a long day!

Hi Alex,

Welcome to the forum, it's great isn't it. I've had a couple of wobbles, but certainly not enough to put me off going for it! Good luck with the TRA, hope to chat to you Friday night.

Lou

Hi Guys,

We do think it's a friendly site, thank you for joining. We hope to be able to answer your questions or at least point you in the right direction. There's a whole mixture of people on here, all who've had some experience of either going through the process, gone through it or doing it on behalf of someone else.

There is a chat room too, which mainly gets used on Friday night, people have fun on there and get to know each other, but you can also ask any questions you want to.

Ali

thanks everyone

HI

Wow! This really is a friendly site. Thanks to everyone who has said Hi - I'm amazed at how many of us are out there thinking of a big move to Oz. Thanks especially to the teacher who posted advise - had a look at thread and given me more to think about.

Have received transcripts and stuff from college so now we're ready to send everything off to the agency so they can send in the skills assessment. Exiting!!

Alex
