Smile Hi, new girl here!

Hi everyone
Just found this site! I'm 49 and moved to Sydney in September 2006 and so far am loving it - although miss family/friends in England. How have others settled and do you find it a bit lonely at times? I don't know where to go or what to do to make friends so feel a bit isolated at times.

Hi

Hi
I've not been right into Brisbane yet but have flown into the airport there en route to the Sunshine Coast - been to Noosaville twice, it's a lovely place. When you off to Bribane?

Hi Koala

There are several people in the chat-room at the minute and there will be even more later on. Everyone is welcome to go in and join in with the chat. It is less remote than all this posting messages back & forth on the forum.

I'm sure you'll get a very warm welcome. Click on Chat towards the top right of the screen.

Cheers

Gill

Hi

Hi Koala,

I am 45 and we are living on the Central coast, have you come to Oz on your own or with family, we are having a meet on the central coast on the 30th of this month, I am not sure where you are living it might be too far to come but always have a chat on here, we could meet up halfway or I could come to sydney, keep meaning to do that anyway, I have felt really lonely (nobody loves me) but have just started to meet some nice people, it will happen but not overnight, are you working I can't get a decent job down here but I will still keep trying, I don't give up that easily, keep in touch and take care Frances

Smile Nice to meet you!

Hi Frances,
I came to Oz with my husband and eldest daughter (24). My youngest one (22) didn't feel ready to make the move yet although she's recently been out for 3 months on holiday, went back 3 weeks ago so I'm really missing her. My husband although born in UK came to Oz when 2 so considers himself Australian and most of his family are here including his children and 2 grandchildren (it's a second marriage) and I'd been here twice before on holidays and absolutely loved it.
How long have you been here and how are you finding it? Not sure how far it is to Central Coast, we're in East Botany? Would be nice to chat on here or perhaps meet 1/2 way or in Sydney somewhere if you ever wanted to go into the City. I have also found it very lonely. When we first arrived we stayed with my husband's brother/sister in law for several weeks before we found somewhere to live and both husband and daughter were at home before finding work. My youngest daughter arrived in Sydney the week my husband started work so it's only been the past 3-4 weeks I've been on my own since she went back and I find it very lonely indeed. What have you been doing to meet people and how have you found Australia compared to UK - where did you move from?
Best wishes and thanks for making contact....

Hi Koala
I´m Julie (aka gizmo on this site) and living on the Central Coast, im only 10mins or so from Frances - she is a real nice lady met her the other week & plan to go to the uk meet on the 30th. I arrived here in Aug 06 my hubby is a oz citizen and we came to this area as he use to live here and knew he could get work here ok.
It can be very lonely so i know how you feel but it gets better with time and slowly im starting to feel much happier in myself. I also left 2 daughters in the uk and have one here with me in oz aged 13, she is happy & settled in school.
Get in touch if you would like to meet up
all the best
gizmo / julie

Smile Hi there

Hi Julie,
Nice to meet you too! You arrived here about a month before me then, how you finding it apart from being a bit lonely? It is very hard when you have left children behind in UK no matter how old they are, also I have my parents there and I worry about them too! It's good that you daughter has settled in school, I think younger kids are very adaptable and seem to make friends very easily.
What and where is this UK meet you mentioned on 30th? Also would be nice to meet up, not sure how far Central Coast is from where I am but we could meet 1/2 way or something if you like?
Anyway, would be nice to keep in touch/chat on here meantime

Best wishes Karen aka koala 12
