Hi all,

My husband, 2 kids (11,22months), and myself are in the very early stages of thinking about moving to this area. We have completed an assessment and we passed the application(my husband darren is a coachbuilder and it is on the skilled trades list) I am still at the will we wont we stage and would be grateful for any info which you could give me on local schools, area, employment etc
Hello
Not sure if it will help, my husband and I are in the same situation. (See Education Forum) Jo/Ray@westcliffRugby - we recieved a great response about Forest Lakes the area and schools - wasn't positive im afraid!!!!

many thanks for all the info and getting back so quickly. We are going to look into other suburbs, although I really did like the sound of forest lake!!! Its soo hard to make a decision. For Darren he would go 2morrow, whereas I have soo much close family here in Belfast. I am delighted to have found this forum. It has answered alot of questions already. Has anyone got info on westlake. We stayed there 4 years ago for a month and loved it. but is the area to old for a youngish!!!! family to live.
cant wait to read some replys.(i could easily get addicated to this site!!!) Julie Mac
hi julie
i know exactly how your feeling, my husband would go yesterday if he could without looking back, i however have a small but extremly close family and refused to go for years because i didnt want to even think about leaving my sister, after writing a few posts on here spilling out all my worries of leaving family and taking the kids to the other side of the world and away from nan grandad and their auntie(come second mum) the support and helpful advice i got from this forum really helped me and as i cant really talk about it with my sister cause she wont, it really helps to come on here and have a moan and get it all out. everyone on here knows how your feeling and understands and we are all a really friendly bunch, some are madder than others(jo ) . we are going and are just starting the whole process,
im afrail i cant help with location problems as we are in the same boat want to go brisbane area but dont know where, but just wanted to welcome you to the site and you luck, fridays in the chat are mad but fun hope to see you there

Hi Julie, We have been looking a little further west - about 15 mins further at the areas around Goodna. Goodna itself doesn't seem fab but there is a terrific school there called Westside Christian College. It caters for kids from 4 to 18 and has a very very good report. We also have friends who have sent their kids there and say its fantastic. We are looking at the area of Karalee or Karana Downs which is a 15 minute drive away - but the school bus will collect. Will also conside Sprinfield Lakes and Collingwood Park.
Hope this helps. Sarah

Cal - do you know if there are good area quite close - ie within school distance of Goodna. We really want our kids to go to school in Goodna - which are the best areas? We are looking as I said at Springfield Lakes and Collingwood Park but need to make sure there are planty for the kids to do 14, 12 and 8 without me being too much of a taxi driver!! Hubby will have to work in Amberley (Ipswich) and dont want him too have to go TOO far. Thanks Sarah

hiya ,,I can understand why you wouldnt want to live in Goodna, lol, Redbank plains isnt supposed to be very clever either ,Springfield lakes is lovely, its a rapidly developed community and you have shops and ammenities there i would rather commute from there than live nearer ,school buses are excellent and cover more areas than you think ,the only thing to consider is if you are not living within the 'catchment' area ,will you be able to get them places at that school??
