I don't know how many of you have come across Bill Bryson's "Down Under", but I thoroughly recommend it for newcomers and that you read it again after about 12 months.. I can guarantee it will give you a piercing insight into life over here but will have you rolling on the floor laughing again..

If you are looking for something more serious and typically Aussie, "Three Dollars" by Elliot Perlman is an absolute gem.

If anyone has any other recommendations I'm willing to read anything once!!

I read Bill Bryson's oz book and thought it was great. Having been to some of the places he wrote about also helped.

Living and Working in Australia is definitely our bible at the moment.

Time to read for pleasure now would be a godsend, anyone fancy a few more hours in the day???:)

Well I've just bought a copy for 75p from Amazon so I'll let you know what I think of it as soon as I've read it.

My Mood:
jo90 will become famous soon enough
Smile

Hi!
Also can recommend Down Under - Bill Bryson, funny stories which I think I may appreciate even more once I've been to Oz. Trying to get hubby to read it now so he knows what's been putting the smile on my face when alone in bed. Dipping into Living and Working in Australia - David Hampshire - lots of useful info!
