Question dont know where to start - helppppp

Hi all, my family and I would love to move to Perth as we have lots of relations there. My hubby is a BT Engineer, has been for 10 years but im not sure if that is the equivalent of a Communications Linesperson which is on the skilled list.

A lot of companies on the web seem to want a lot of money to handle the application so can anyone tell me the best route to take please and how much this roughly costs to complete the visa process.

Any information would be greatly received.

Oh hubby n i are both34 and the kids are 10 n 6 (dont know if that helps)

cheers ma dears.

Hi,

Don't know about your OH equivalant occupation. I have read that agents do give some initial advise regarding which visa's etc. We did the 136 visa ourselves as it was pretty straight forward my being a nurse. In all we probably spent about £2,500 (give or take), on the skilled assessment, medicals etc., certifying copies, application (this was last year).

The cut off point for a skilled visa is 45 so your ages are fine, My daughter was 11 when she had her medical and my son 6, neither needed blood tests, but my daughter had to have an x-ray.

Hi Franny and welcome to the group

You really need to start by reading the DIAC website to within an inch of its life. Please see here: http://www.immi.gov.au/

Although the stuff is ferociously complex, the idea of using "postcards" is good because they use the same format for every visa and keep the words to a minimum.

There are also Information Forms and Booklets about almost every visa, which you can download from here:

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/index.htm

It is absolutely headbanging stuff, but for the most part you can get the gist (after a struggle, admittedly.)

Meanwhile, come back on here and ask as many questions as you like. You'll always find someone who can point you in the right direction and a couple of very knowledgeable Migration Agents post on here too.

In the meantime, Friday night is party time in the chatroom. There was a very lively crowd in there last Friday night and the chatroom software is easy to work once someone explains how! Go up to where it says "The Lounge" on the left and click on it. A drop-down menu will help you to move from one room to another.

Cheers

Gill

Franny,

I'm going to go into the chatroom so that you can come and talk to me properly if you wish.

Look towards the top of the screen, to the right, and click on Chat. It is quite easy. I think it is going to be easier for you than all this laborious posting around.

II'll just put up a very quick thread then I'll be there.

Gill
