There are so many different companys using on line assesment services it really is hard to choose one ,we personally used visa bureau ,did the on line assesment and they followed up with a courtesy call explaining what visas we qualify for and which is the best option to take ,you can also do this by contacting them via phone ,not many charge for a telephone assesment, alternatively all the infomation you should need is available on the DIMIA website for you to download.it may seem a bit of a minefield at first but youll soon get the hang of it ,,good luck

hi Ukgreens
You can do it on your own (if your brave)....
It's personal choice really, and depends on how much spare time you have, if you like reading (loads of info on here ofcourse) and filling in forms and how complicated your case is.
Personally, we used an Agent, Visa Unit - coz we left it a bit late for the age cut off of 45, my hubby is 44 at the mo, and we are applying under skilled independant visa -136. There are loads of visas, but try this link below and it will explain quite a bit.
Good luck

Hi jonseywife
Thanks very much for taking the trouble to reply to me.
I took a skilled visa assessment on line with the Australian Visa Bureau and it was successful. The assessment was based on my skills, not my hubby's. He is 47 and I am very, very nearly 45, (ie only about 3 weeks to go). Do you think this will have been taken into account on the assessment? How close is your hubby to the age limit? Do you have to have actually emigrated before the age of 45 or just applied?
Sorry to bombard you with questions, but I after being really chuffed last night, I have now gone into panic mode!!
Regards

Hi again.....
Ooooooo, you are cutting it a bit fine..... My hubby is 45 in Aug.!!!! Poor old thing!
Think you had better speak to an agent 1st thing in the morning, most of them will have a chat with you and tell you how you stand!!
We was told you have too be under 45 at the time the application is lodged. And on the skilled visa 136 we applied for, we had to pass a Trades Assessment first. Not sure if you can put the application in first... so best get a bit a professional advice, quick!!!
Good luck
