Whoaaaa! Help

Hi,
have just been told i am shortlisted for a job in sydney, living in Herts at the moment and commute to london.will be bringing over my fiancee and 1 year old boy if i get the job.Is all happening a bit fast and am not sure what to do.
Have been offered aud$65000pa,but not really sure what that equates to,from what ive read its not enough.the package involves visas and medical sorted/relocation funds up to $2000 and a return flight for me.
I know this probably sounds a dream to a lot of you and it is for us but am brickin it as to wether i should go for it or not.
I spent a year over there in the late nineties and loved it but have sort of forgotten what lifes like out there

Wow you're right that does sound like a dream scenario. My in-laws live in melbourne and my father in law earns $68,000. From what he says this is a really good salary, however i'm pretty sure that Sydney is a more expensive place to live than Melbourne. It is always scary when dreams turn into reality but you have to ask yourself which you would regret more a) giving it a go and having to return home b) not taking the opportunity and always wondering what it would have been like. Good luck with whatever you decide to do

We agree too, just go for it as you will regret it if you dont give it a go which is the reason we are doing it with our 2 kids, this country is going nowhere anymore just crap life and nothing for kids etc, hence all the crime rises due to kids bordem. We cant wait and kids are soooooo excited as we are too. They watched some of the wanted down under with us and made them even more excited.

I think that's a pretty good package and would go for it.

Hi,

It's a massive decision and I think you are right to think it over, after all you have a one year old to think of. Have you looked into the cost of renting property etc in Sydney? This will probably give you a better idea of the lifestyle you will be able to afford on the salary they have offered.

However you also need to weigh up missing out on this fantastic opportunity, will you be happy with your decision no matter what it is or would you regret it in years to come if you said no? After all you can always come back!

Personally I would snap it up, but then we are all different and need to make the decision made on our own circumstances. Whatever you decide to do Good Luck!

Lou

That sounds like a good wage. Could I ask what line of work you are in? So hard when to know what it a good wage in Oz but sounds good to me!

thanks for all you words of wisdom,am currently on a run of nightshifts and could not sleep today worrying what to do,it is somthing we tried to do on our own thru the visa bureau 3 years ago and it went belly up leaving us 700 quid out of pocket, now we have a son and to be honest it only came up a few weeks ago watching wanted down under, then i coincidently heard from a mate in perth who is living it up nicely, then a week later i was shown an advert for a job for the same company i work for but in sydney, the word FATE springs to mind, everything is screaming GO FOR IT,but wether i have the bottle remains to be seen. am going mad as i have to let them know in a day or 2
