Hi Deb,
I'm a nurse too.Sent off ANMC application recently & it was acknowledged in Oz 5 days later! So,I'm not much further ahead than you.Ali in Perth has been a great help..are you out there Ali?!!
I qualified in 1989 & where I trained has closed..yes I'm a dinosaur!
You need to ring Verification Dept at NMC London 020 7333 6627.For 34 pounds, they will send transcripts & verification of your Reg to Oz(& QLD too).
Hope this helps
Paula
Going to Gold Coast too...we hope!

Hiya Deb,

I also trained before diplomas etc., I emailed the NMC and they were able to send the ANMC a transcript of training for around that time, like Hezza said, for £34 they also verify with ANMC that you are qualified.

I tried to get a refund from NMC as I'd only just paid my (increased) registration the year before - but unless you're retiring they won't give it to you. so if you're due to renew in UK and there's a 12 month option do that as it'll save you some money.

The ANMC will also send your file off to whichever board you want to register with, which saves you having to duplicate things

Ali

Sorry to but in, but I was wondering if it's worth me doing this aswell? We will be applying for a 136 on my OH's skills, but I hope to work at some point once the kids have settled etc. Is there a time limit if I do it before we go or should I wait until we're in Melbourne?

I don't think you will need a skills assessment if you're going on your OHs 136, - the skills assessment gives you a code which you then put onto your application.

However, if you want to register to work as a nurse, each state has their own nursing board and registration isn't held centrally like in the UK. The nursing board of WA wanted similar things i.e certified copies of certificates, etc., as the ANMC who just pass the file on.

The website is: www.nbwa.org.au
