Hi Lolly,

Read your post on the newbie page, hope you are the same person. I am in the same position as you although slightly opposite, husband born in Oz. I noticed you said your children automatically qualify, so hopefully mine will aswell?

Wendy

Hi Wendy
Yes i think so.....they gain citizenship by descent. you have to apply for certificates of citizenship for them and then you can apply for passports for them.

follow this link for the form

hope this helps

Lauren,

Thanks for that, big help.

I notice you also have the Brisbane area in mind, we have friends in the Kallangur area but not sure if we would go there, so much to choose from.

No probs Wendy
We are thinking of Brisbane area but then again Adelaide appeals too -maybe as thats where I was born? Who know....Its very hard to sit in the Uk and decide where you would like to live isnt it. Especially since I havent been there since i was 2!! I suppose we will have to look at the best area for hubbys work (IT) - going to apply for his spouse visa this summer then think about making the move next year. How about you?

Hi Lauren,

Yes same here, Brisbane first then Adelaide, husband left when he was about seven, he also works in IT, so obviously have to bear that in mind, wherever a job is available.

MelW is on a distinguished road
Brisbane Bound

Gosh we feel kinda left behind, we started our visa application May 06, we are going in on my husbands skills, (TRA) which was passed August 06, the process of the main migration application started in September 06, our application and supporting documentation was sent October 06 (we are using an agency), in December we recived confirmation from the agency that ASPC had recived our application, but we would be still looking at a few months before we would be allocated a case officer, I think we are going for our medicals and police checks in April, which as I understand can take a further 8 weeks? With all the emotion, trying to figure out if this is the right choice, dragging two kids to the other side of the world, and all the waiting, trying to keep a level head, this all seems quite daunting and is it really worth all this stress. Aghhhhhhh. Are we nearly there yet?

Anyway would you believe I actually was originally writing to say that we are hoping to move to the Brisbane area, any idea's where we should head, we have two young children, 4 years & 18 monhs, who will probably be in there teens by the time we get there, and advise greatly took on board, from a very frustrated Mel :?
