I have been with my OH for 17 years now and we have only just been in Oz 8 months, he wanted to be here 17 years ago, but I was the one to scared to make the move, time and patience is all it takes hopefully not 17 years to change her mind.

Ask her what it is that worries her the most, maybe either offer a holiday first, or promise yourseleves a two year trial to see if you think you will settle, my OH and I have said if after two years we have not settled then we will go home.

Hope this helps

Good Luck
Take Care
Mo

Agree with Missiemo,

It was only after visiting Australia that I knew I wanted to live here. It's early days but I've not been disappointed.

I fell in love with oz when I was 19 and visiting family, this was before me and the husband got together. It took me 7 years to convince him to holiday there with me. He loves oz as much as me, hence the migration ambition.

I agree with Missiemo and Ali, a holiday (if the funds allow it) would be a great starting point.

Hi Strawberryfun,

My parents also live in oz they've been there 10yrs and i was never tempted at all until 2 yrs ago when my older two kids then 13 and 15 told me that they were moving to oz when they've finished school, the eldest saying he's going to uni there and my daughter is moving in with nanny (poor nanny!).
Anyhow i suddenly thought, they could do it, my mom would like nothing better and has been saying for years its much better for the kids than the UK. Then we'd be left here, with no kids and no parents (sounds good actually!!) and to old to do anything about it.

So here we are, medicals nx mth then all being well visa about April :)

Now of course kids could always change their minds, and we all might hate it but i just want to get oz citizenship, so that we have the choice for the rest of our lives. And whats 3yrs out of a lifetime?

Your girls are younger than mine but will you still be under 45 if they come home one day and say the same thing?

Nothing like a bit of emotional blackmail

Sam

Hi

We were the same. I was always the one pushing to emigrate and Hubby was the one holding back. Anyway, finally managed to persuade him to go on holiday there last year and now he is the one steaming ahead trying to get his TRA finished.

As for the kids, mine have fallen in love with the place (ages 7&9), constantly asking when we are going!

My suggestion would be to go on holiday, scrimp, save or borrow and then your wife may be able to see what an opportunity it is for the children and yourselves and all her doubts may go, like my OH's.

Good luck and keep us informed - Joanne
