Cairns

My husband has just been offered a job in Cairns and we are now considering this as our destination when the visa's come through in april/may (everything crossed). Has anyone moved over there? We are only reading good things and would love some feedback.

We visited in 2005 as part of our holiday, so don't know what it's like to live there full time. To me it looked like a typical back packers resort (even though there are really nice hotels too), the airport seemed tiny (we flew in from Brisbane), and like cal says it can get very hot.

There is some beautiful scenery, me personally, I enjoyed the holiday but it didn't make me want to live there.
