Immigration Diabetic issue

Hello, new to all this so bear with me. considering moving to Australia my wife has a skill on the occupation list. I have been a diabetic on insulin for over 12 years and have heard that this may exclude me from entry. Does anyone know of succesfull applicants with this conditon or would i be wasting time and money applying.

Diane Paul and the kids is an unknown quantity at this point
diabetic

this question gets asked often, and the answer usually is that it is nothing to worry about,i know of someone who's son developed the condition half way through the application process and were still granted the visa.

Hi there

I can't help with your question as our visa application just went in this month. However our daughter has had type one diabetes for eight years and we are a little nervous about the medicals etc but nobody seems to feel it'll be an issue.

It'll be a long wait, but I'll let you know when we hear.

best of luck
Debbie

Hi Phil,
I am in the same position mate, I have been a type 1 diabetic for 22 years and have just started the visa process. I did however have a pre medical, that which if passed could possibly be used as the medical for my visa application. If it does fail, they will send it to me so that I can look over the problem's and hopefully correct them.
I am probably going to use Go Matilda for the visa application as I have been recommended of them by users of this site, and they seem very helpful on first impressions.
Anyway keep in touch mate and let us now how you go.
Good luck,
Ian

Hi Debbie,

I don't think you have any worries as we have just been granted our visa and our daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when we went for our medicals.

Have you any idea how we go about getting there insulin when we are in oz and how much we have to pay?

I have sent emails to medicare so hopefully they will advise what we have to do.

good luck with your application

Dear Chris & Teresa

That must have been an awful shock on your medical. How old is your daughter and how is she adapting?

I've only done a little research on cost of insulin etc, so I only know it'll cost alot more than here particularly for BM testing strips etc. I got most info from http://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/home/index.htm.

I would be very interested to hear how it all goes for you.

Congratulations on getting your visa, where are you heading?

best wishes
Debbie
