Hello all from Portsmouth UK

Hello to you all, been looking round the forum and wanted to say what a brilliant resource it is for people in my position.

Im currently a Plumbing and Heating engineer over here but with the insane way this country is being run its time to leave. Im married with 3 children aged 7,5 and 1 and im hoping Aus will be able to provide a better life than the UK can.

At the moment im just looking round taking it all in. Considering Perth as a possible destination as i know a couple of people who have moved over there as well as the construction that is taking place.

Im not under any illusions that Aus is perfect, I just hope it will give better opportunities for my family than the good old UK can, Rick

Hi Rick

Hi and welcome to PIO

My OH is in also a heating engineer like you but for the visa application his job title is mechanical services and air conditioning.

We have done the first part of the process and sent our skills assesment to Australia it went on 5th Jan so hope to hear very soon but I am beginning to get impatient.

We are looking at heading to Brisbane on advice from friends we took a trip over last August and loved it.

We have 3 boys 2 of which are definitely coming with us 1 {nearly 18** who cannot make his mind up.

Anyway good luck deciding whether to take the plunge.

Kaye :)

Off to Melbourne from Portsmouth UK

Just wanted to say 'Hello' as we, (i.e myself, husband and tow little boys aged 5 and 2) too are in Portsmouth and are off to Melbourne in June. Already have our permanent visas and although June seems far away, it'll come soon enough and we have a million and one things to do to get ready to go. Excited though!
This site is SO helpful! Good luck with the application!

Hi all

Another family (me, hubby, 2 boys 11 and 14) from portsmouth making the move to oz. Hubby is joining oz navy but we are waiting for the terms of service to arrive so haven't got a date yet. We do know we will be starting off in Melbourne for a few months, just wish they would hurry a little with the paperwork.

Wishing everyone good luck in your new lives down under.

Nicky

Can we be included!!

Hello not strictly Portsmouth But up the A3 towards petersfield!! just ready to sign the forms for a vias application so really really early days, husband is engineer but unfortunatly for us he moved into sales and isn't hands on anymore so he only gets a 50 point occupation, we are looking at the South Aus option to live and work in Adeliade, we have a boy almost 3 and a baby due in August!! I think for us the better life for our little ones is key to our move and a huge dislike of the way this country is heading, I'd like my freedom Back!!

Take care all xx
