WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
morning all,
we sent off our tra application about 10 days ago now. we spoke to our agent (mick breen destinaton oz) as we thought we would start gathering our stuff for the visa. we had originally been told that the visa would be granted in about 4-6mths but it has taken us so long to get all the stuff for the tra that we are now being told that it could take anyting from 8-10 months from when the appointed visa processer has it in his/her hand. apparently the immigation dept in adelaide is suffering huge back logs. i am gutted, stupid i know, my hubby is much more relaxed about it but i really hoped to be in oz by july/aug so the children wouldn't start another school year here. when we moved here from ireland it was to be a short stop until our visa's came through, i suppose this has thrown me cos ididn'texpect to be renting the house that we are in (which i hate) for so long e.c.t........ the list is endless, please forgive the whining, i generally am not a moan and always find the positives in things but its just eluding me at the moment,
thanks for listening, can't sayi feel better but at least i got to vent!!
judith. minus the happy husband and the 3adventuers (for this post anyway) :(

Hi there
This is my first reply and I luv reading all the posts. Its amazing how much 'pull' this oz place has on us. We applied back in Oct before even seeing the place! Finally visited month ago and realised it does seem to live up to the dream. Our TRA was approved in 2 weeks back in Nov 06. The request for our meds and police checks was requested couple of weeks ago (meds booked for Monday 12/3) despite website advising bout 6-8 month wait. Our agent said they are getting through backlog pretty quickly now so hopefully yours will come through quicker too. I live and breathe oz (our friends seem to be quietly abandoning us !?!) so I suppose I will just have to start digging all the way down if they refuse us! Good luck and keep us posted.
Lyn
TRA applied mid Oct
Approved end Oct
VISA applied 7 Nov
Meds and police checks requested end Feb
Same here, check out our timeline below. It was a big surprise getting a case officer when we did, we were sooo not ready for it. Don't get your hopes up that all will move as fast for you but don't be too depressed about the supposed 8 month wait either, it may not be that bad.

Me and hubbie not long decided on OZ............... We are in NZ just now. We applied for residency visa and got em well over a year ago. We just cant settle herein NZ its a gorgeous place but its the poorer half to OZ............ oh the list we have on relocating in long...... not to mention the schools, wages, etc!!!
I just wondered it anyone could help out, with info, etc on Victoria, Melbourne or further afield. Im a nurse, so jobs are at a shortage everywhere.
Seems like you have got through quite quickly, best of luck with your meds on monday there quite basic we had ours done 2 weeks ago. We started our application last May got stuck in the backlog lodged our main applc August, called for meds in Jan nearly there now just waiting to hear for visa.
See you are from hertfordshire whereabouts, we are from small village Furneux Pelham in hertfordshire nr buntingford and not far from bishop's stortford. Also see your hubby a plumber so is mine.
We visited Perth last year loved it thats where we hope to end up, how about you where did you visit?
Just interested to know, is the visa a certainty once you have passed the tra, medicals and police check or can they decline your visa at all?
Also, on the tra form it says to put the registration number/license number, did you leave that space blank?
Any tips on filling in the tra form is greatly appreciated, we are not using an agent and are abit scared we will mess it up!
Thanks

Don't despair, last year Cal, myself and our friend Lisa (aka sparkey) were wondering where our visas where when everyone was getting theirs, we were really upset. With hindsight (what a wonderful thing it is), it took 7 months which when you look at it - you'd wait that long for a holiday (if you'd booked early). For me it was the fact that my son had waited 6 months for an operation which gave me a reality check. Some things are worth waiting for and is all the sweeter when it actually arrives

I've got a question for you already, my husband is a self employed plumber and on the TRA form it says that you have to have a minimum of 3 statements from suppliers. Well, Bradley gets all his gear from one merchant and just gets anything else he needs from B& Q. I'm wondering how important that part is. He can copy his B&Q receipts and get them certified, but he only has one supplier who knows his as a plumber with an account.
If you can't help, maybe someone else will see this who can!
Thanks

We are just about ready to send off my OH's TRA (he's a plumber). We have only put one reference in from a supplier, as like your husband he only uses one regularly but has gots loads of bits and pieces from various others & B&Q etc.
If it helps this is what we asked them to write:
This letter is authentication that Mr Ian Coleman has had a plumbing and heating trade account for the last 3 years with us, which he has used to purchase materials and tools as a valued and respected plumbing and heating engineer customer of PTS Salisbury. Mr Coleman has always paid his account on time and without any problems. We also know of Mr Coleman as an experienced engineer before he had his own account when he worked for another customer, where he purchased goods and tools for his trade.
This was then signed by the manager of PTS.
Our agents havent told us we need anymore, but I am happy to double check with them if you like.
