New & concerned

Hi there, this is my first post so if I'm in the wrong place sorry in advance.

Well, we have gone and got ourselves an agent and are in the process of collecting refs for my husbands TRA application. But we have got a concern with our daughters health. she is 6 and has cerebral palsy! It is very, very mild and affects her right leg so she wears a splint. It doesn't stop her from doing anything any other 6 year old would do ( you would know what I mean if you saw her fighting with her brothers!), and our agent thinks it won't be a problem. We are worried about getting our hopes up and getting knocked back at the medical stage-if we get that far! Just wondered if anybody else had a problem anything like this and what happened? Sorry its a bit long-winded but any responses would be gratefully received, thanks.

Golywobbler (Gill) had some great advice for a guy who posted on here following a medical procedure that I can't spell. She advised getting in touch with panel doctors and such like. Have a look through some of the previous threads and I'm sure it may shed a little light.

Welcome to Poms in oz - we're a friendly, helpful bunch

Hi Caz & Si

Hopefully as your agent isn't worried it shouldn't be a problem but we have similar concerns as our eldest has diabetes. As far as I understand it they worry about illnesses that may put a strain on local services later on or have high cost implications. I'm not the expert but I can't see imagine that Cerebral Palsy would be an issue.

Good luck with you application.

Debs :)

My Mood:
The.Colebecks is on a distinguished road
I know the worry you are going through. We have a potential problem with our middle son - he has a heart condition called SVT. Its controlled with daily beta blockers and can be operated on once his heart is adult size. We have no idea what the medical panel will make of this :?

I think if you have asked around and the response seems to be positive then I'd be inclined to think positively.

Fingers crossed.
All the best

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the positive replies, feel a bit better now. Not sure how much of a financial strain she will put on them in Oz but can only wait and see. She needs a new splint every 6 mths or so and the occasional physio but other than that she is perfectly fine. Will just have to cross our fingers - and everything else we can!
Thanks again, Caz.
