Where to stay on arrival Brisbane

We are due to move over to Brisband in March/April, when we get there I would really like a temporary furnished property for a couple of weeks as a base preferably just outside the city. I have tried a couple of place but they seem to be playing on the fact we may be arriving with money and charging a bomb....Any suggestions, we have a four year old as well - I was also wondering if anyone could suggest some nice suburbs within a 30min communte so Sumner?

Hiya ,i cant help with the accomodation much as we too thought this was a weak area in Brisbane ,there isnt much choice of short term furnished rentals ,have you tried the caravan and chalet parks ,most have air con and a pool, which you will find a necessatity before long.I know of a couple of parks and a motel were i notice alot of new arrivals stay but they are more south side and commute time will probably be nearer 40min.As for suburbs there are too many nice ones and i would highly recommend you have a good drive around before deciding on an area, most have good parks and schools and theres only a few places to avoid you just need to get that homely feel ,which you will when you drive around the 'right place' for you ,if i can help anymore drop a pm or just ask

Hi
We stayed at a great campsite in Eight Mile Plains - Brisbane Holiday Village - www.brisbaneholiday.com.au or 0061733416133 -great cabins - clean, pool, shop/cafe and 30 mins from city. Very good as base when you arrive we wish we were still there!! Or there is a Big 4 camp/cabin site in Aspley which is north of the city www.caravanvillage.com.au or 0061732634040 - Big 4 are usually very good - be cautious about jumping into rental the sites are probably better whilst you find your feet. Good Luck!

We paid $350 a week over the Christmas holidays but that included everything. We also have young children and they loved it there.

All the best

Heather&Mick
