Wages for Floor Layer

Hi
I have been offered a salaried position in Sumner approx. 14 kms from Brisband Centre but the salary is terrible. Does anyone know what sort of rate I could be looking at if I went sub-contract and is it easy to do this over there. We are looking to arrive in March/April

Hi my husband is a floor layer (finisher) we have been offered plenty of work out in Brisbane/Gold coast area. He is self employed over here and does a lot of sub-contracting in London, have you been watching Wanted Down Under on BBC1 @ 9.15am weekdays, we are the Jones family on tv this Thursday so this will give you an idea how much a floor layer can earn on a self employed basis, out of interest how much do they offer to be an employed floor layer? and do you do more hard flooring or carpet.

speak to you soon

Sarah

Hi Sarah (spooky my name as well)
I can't believe u r on the telly, my neighbour was telling me about that series this morning, sadly I am in work when it is on but will ask her to tape it for me....I assume you are over there now?

Paul does all types of flooring and was self employed for about thirteen years before going on the books to be a contract manager. He has been offered $39,000 + super with a company in Sumner which I think is really bad but gets us on the books so we can feel the ground of the trade from there.

I would love to speak with you directly? how do I go about doing that?

That salary depends on how much work they want you to do.
Do they have a minimum metreage that is required to be installed?
What type of Floorcoverings are you installing?
Do they supply a vehicle & all tools for that Salary?
Is that for 38hours/week?
Do they pay overtime?

The flooring Industry works on performance based pay very well.
It should be a walk in the park to earn $50kplus/year on salary if you put in the effort with overtime.
