      ADF Transfer process - info

      Hi All

Having read all your emails it seems very much like the actual path to enlistment is never the same! I am at the stage where I am awaiting my visa outcome (HOPEFULLY THIS WEEK!), I must say its been a nightmare dealing with the Oz Army, I am a WO2 in the APTC joining the Oz Medical Corps as a Sgt PTI. I will layout what my path has been which I am lead to believe is the correct order, here goes:

      1. Initial contact email of transfer interest.
      2. Email recieved & application form issued. (2-4 weeks)
      3. Complete Application form.
      4. Application form accessed & enlistment package issued. (2-4 weeks)
      5. Complete enlistment package & return.
      6. Enlistment package recieved & processed. (6-8 weeks)
      7. Phone call - welfare interviews with myself & wife, questions & answers both ways. (2-4 weeks)
      8. Report writen after welfare interviews - all OK. (2 weeks)
      9. Formal job offer released, you sign & return.
      10. Oz Army applies for your Labour Agreement on your behalf.
      11. Labour Agreement agreed & recieved. (6-8 weeks)
      12. Authority given to attend Panel Doctors for visa medicals (whol family)
      13. Apply for visa.
      14. Wait for visa outcome

From the above you can see some differences, my main problem has been the lack of contact (on their part) & compitance of the youny soldiers dealing with the application i.e they loose doc's, forget to request docs etc all of which has added approx 9 weeks to my whole process which in turn has put me in a possition where I am due to finish with the British Army in 1 week with no confirmed visa.

I have got a back up plan of Continuance & LSL if the visa is not approved but I am going to have to say yes or no to this before my ROD or else I will be a civi & then this is no longer an option! Which in turn then adds another problem of release from Continuance LSL when/if the visa is confirm.

All I can say is transfering has been a testing time & at times I have questioned myself on if I am making the right choice! But I am sure I am for all the all family. I hope the above info is of use & if I can help just ask.

      Neil

      Hi Neil!

So this means that the Conditions of Service that was signed and sent back before Christmas, will poosibly not arrive as a Labour Agreement until February???? AARRGHHH!!!

Started the whole process in Dec05 and now we are waiting for the LA. Have already sent off for Police Checks and I'm going to get the Meds sorted over the next few weeks.

      Time frames

      Hi Angie

All my time frames are approx, however, from signing the formal job offer there was a clear 6-8 weeks of no contact from the Oz Army. Where are you from in Plymouth? I was born in Plymouth & lived in Torpoint all my life until I joined the Army.
      Regards
      Neil

      Hiya!

I was born in Torpoint - MANY YEARS AGO!

We live in Crownhill now - sold the house - Hubby Working in Raleigh. I emailed our point of contact in Canberra last week to ask about the LA. He said he was waiting from immigration.

He did email all of the forms to us though, so at least I've manage dto make a start on digging out loads of docs and ordering ones I cannot find any more.

      How old are you kids??

      Ours are 10,14 & 15.

We're also brining our dog over - she's going to cost us a fortune, but cannot moan as the RAN are paying for everything else.

We are aiming for Augst/September this year to go across - we'll be in Canberra.

We have friends that went over to Sydney in November 06 - they went through the same route and it only takes around 4-6 weeks for the Visa's to be granted once the application is received.

My hubby is currently teaching in Raleigh - he's kept all of his rank and seniority to go over - which is excellent news.

I'm hoping that it all starts to come together soon - it's very frustrating when you don't hear anything!!!

When do you plan to go over?

      Info

The whole process has been very testing! the worst thing being the lack of contact on their part its the not knowing whats happening! Once you have your labour agreement then its the visa application which I thought was OK very straight forward but again its the waiting for the visa outcome, everybody says "it will be OK" but its the not knowing!

We expect to know this week, thereafter, I want to be on a plane down under by mid Mar. Fingers crossed!

      Have you PVR'd already then??

Hubby gave is in in September 06 - his last day in the Navy is 8th September 2007.

He starts his resettlement etc in June and we are going to show the kids Europe etc. before we go.

I'm going to try to get most of the bits done prior to the LA and then we can send it all of in a 'oner'

Let me know how you get on with it all

      Hey Angie :D

Got all forms - sent you an msn, how on earth did you get through them all - they are a nightmare!!! Don't think we have original docs over here and stuff in storage was going to go direct to Oz :? Do you think we can submit copies - haven't been through all the forms yet :?

Hope all is well with you and yours. Talk soon, Sarah. :)

      Hi Sarah!

      Good to hear from you!

The forms are a bit shocking! But once the 47es is completed, the rest is purely repitition. Make a start and see how you go - as for original docs, you need to see what you've got against what you'll need and start to order cpies - what's missing?????

All orginal docs can be signed by a solicitor to verify orignal copies etc. Small fee, butworth it!

Anything you need to order cpies for - give me a shout and I'll let you know where to get it!

Keep in touch and speak to you soon

      Angie x
