Only difference being is that 99.9% of us here, have paid a lot of our OWN hard earned money to get here!

Yes i am a migrant to Oz ,BUT i havnt been given a house to live in and had it furnished and neither do i get free medical care or become exempt from council tax,yes i am currently recieving family benefit,as hubby is only on a starting wage but i must remember to ask them when my free car arrives as i need to look for a job and feel threatened using public transport !!!!

No nerves touched (well, maybe a little!)bad morning !!!! i will always call it home but we just seemed to work our arses off and got nothing in return, when you actually needed help for one reason or another ,they always found a way to make you exempt! i feel the goverment let the working class people down beyond help and that country ,the UK ,my home ,could never return to the good old fashioned days .

uk versus oz

I dont know i love good old britain.

When i was a lad you could go out on your bike and be out all day and your parents wouldnt be worried, if you left the back door open no one would come and nick anything, we might not have had much money but we were all in the same boat, there was discipline at school and the police were ppl to be looked upto not spat at.

as a teenager you respected your elders but thats not to say you didnt have fun.

now look at it now in britain

Would you let your 12 year old stay out all day
are the schools as good as they used to be
is it safe to go out at night
the police cant do anything because of the paperwork
and teenagers are beating up old ppl.

Now i know this doesnt apply to everyone so hopefully wont get to much s*it thrown back.

When i went to oz it was clean
ppl were polite
the kids were polite
and everyone helped one another.
the parks were clean would you let your kids play in the park and its rides in this country (i wouldnt unless they wore a bio suit)

But here is one for everyone to think on

We sent all our convicts to oz ppl our judges said were undesirable theives etc.
We the good folks stayed in this country to be looked after by the judges

Who would you say has the better clean country uk or oz

ps answers on a postcard to me in 9 weeks when i am in oz with my wife and young son

I love Scotland,in fact I love it so much that I wanted to experiance more of the world .

I dont judge people on were they come from and I dont resent what they are given,I am just grateful for what I have.

Moving to OZ has been wonderful for me and my Family and I cant help but admire how Aussie folk are so proud of there own.

For all those folk who are running away from the UK because of the government, intrest rates ,immigrants...whatever...prepare to be disappointed but if like me you wanted new experiences to tell your kids about, meet people from the other side of the world, slow down a little so you can enjoy the small things in life better, you will love it.

The Brooks
I got sent this on an e mail, how true it is??
We wouldnt let our kids live so freely now!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking .
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents .
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them! Football teams had trials and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

Fab post The Brooks. Although I was born at the tail end of the 70s and did have a Nintendo, it really wasn't the be all and end all. It is sad when I look at the children I teach and know that when they go home they are most likely to sit in front of a tv or games console. I try to talk about the stuff we did as kids and they look at me in disbelief.

I see going to Oz as the next adventure. I'm not running away from anything in the UK but I want to be somewhere else to start my family. Maybe then my child can experience childhood as we did, playing with nothing much but imagination, entertaining themselves and enjoying childhood.

Mmm, this is a bit deep after a hard day in the classroom with 33 10 year olds, but thanks for the memories.

[quote="calNgary"]I dont think any country is a bed of roses and no one should come here expecting it to be BUT give me oz over the uk anyday, yes you pay for everything but i dont mind paying for things 'I' need ,i resent my money in the uk being wasted on immigrants and dole dossers when so many pensioners can hardly stay afloat!.

PLEASE, can people stop complaining about immigrants in this forum, as it is actually a forum for would-be immigrants! I moved to the UK a couple of years ago, found a job after 3 weeks and have been working hard ever since! I pay taxes and have not recieved ANY benefits whatsoever. I moved to the UK because there were more jobs for architects here than in Sweden, and besides I could never survive on the tiny job allowance in this country - benefits are much more generous in Sweden. I am sure that most people who choose to migrate - like yourself - do so because they want to improve their lives by making a proper living. I intend to work as hard in Auastralia as I am currently doing in the UK.

I think most of us are off for a better future for our children, and know we will have to work hard, but that's the point.
You don't have to work hard here cos theres always the dole. those that do work damn hard find themselves worse off! That's screwed up.
Eight years ago and pregnant with our first child we went to social for the first time ever to see if we were entitled to any help to buy baby pram cot etc. and NO because ...... my OH was a soldier! He had served as a paratrooper for 9 years, been shot at, hospitalized, had operations for injuries obtained in service and being paid £850. a month (yes the wage was that bad) we couldn't afford anything.
But the couple sat next to us were 17/18 unemployed living at home were entitled to a grant to buy there baby things!!!!!!!!!
My mum has worked every day in her life (give or take) my dad claims disability benefit ( lasy to**er more like) he gets his house repossesed and she is hunted for the debt because he is on benefit for last 15 years .
Its all screwed up. I don't want my kids growing up with that 'work ethic' We've also come to realize that if she continues to own her own house when she retires she will not get as much pension someone renting and will have to pay full council tax.
So if embarking on this big adventure helps our kids see that you work hard you can acheive anything then its gotta be the right thing.
I'll shut up now!!!!
