Hiya theres alot heading for Brissy but a hell of alot here already ,we had a little meet yesterday with a few familys id met on here ,its great .
As for jobs unless your a nurse or on a sponsered visa its hard to get a job before you leave,no company really takes you seriously unless your here. What trade are you in ? There is lots of development going on around Brisbane and lots of jobs being advertised have you looked at seek.com for job ideas ?,you could always let the wife work whilst you chill on the beach (my hubby said that not me )there is so much running around to do with medicare, centerlink, tax no etc if we were both in full time employment when we arrived we would have struggled you do need a week or so to get organised so bear this in mind when job hunting.Bring loads of mossie repellant them little darlings are a bloody nuisance and remember you cant bring ANY food thru passport control.Driving licence is a simple $65 fee and photo ,no test any more and if your on a permant visa you get $7000 first time buyers grant.Watch your speed the police ARE on the ball, other than that get here and enjoy it !!!!

How long did it take you to get your visa?
My wife's a Teacher and although we have the skills application under our belt 8 months after we bagan we are being told that it could take another 13 months before the visa is granted
We intend to go to the Gold Coast where we have friends in Pacific Pines.
Does it rain over there! not such a dumb question i believe!

Hiya it took approx 13mth start to finish for our visa and that was with a medical hold up.There is someone off here who has just moved to pacific pines have chatted but not met yet.The gold coast as a whole is a lovely area ,it has rained abit over the last few weeks but when its so hot you really dont mind it,and everything dries within a few hours. They really need the rain here as there is so much debate over recycled water at the mo.There are lots of jobs avail ,the best search's i found were the courier mail- seek.com and also the gold coast bulletin ,saturday is jobs day i think.

Sitting on the beach at Redcliffe yesterday i swear every other family that walked past was English,it takes me a few seconds now to register the accent,i was chatting to a lady from yorkshire the other day( she'd found a lost dog) and it was'nt till the end of the conversation that i realised she was from England, think i have been sitting in the sun for too long! :?

Nurserys are everywhere in brisbane ,one of the main companys seem to be ABC ,you may be able to look em up on the web ,i was quoted $47 per day ,reduces for full week and i believe centrelink will contribute towards the cost, hope this helps
