Is Brisbane the one?

:? Hello,
We are brand new to the forum and have found it totally brill for finding out what others think of oz and it has given us plenty to think about.
We originally thought about moving 'out of the uk' about 4 years ago and got sidetracked to new zealand because we heard it was hard to get into australia, anyway eventually decided to just look into the possiblity of oz and we got enough points on the assessment check so are now thinking more seriously about doing it!! I am a primary school teacher and my oh is a mechanical engineer with 2 boys aged 9 and 7. We have done the really technical and sophisticated checks to decide where we would like to end up and the weather charts led us to Queensland!! well we did look at the cost of living and some pics of the scenery to decide as well.

So are we headed in the right direction?
Can somebody help and give us a few pointers if we will find our ideal location in or around Brisbane? We would like to go with a job offer for my oh ideally in heavy goods/material handling mechanical engineering in a nice, quiet place by the sea where it's not too humid or hot for our very pale skinned eldest to enjoy but with good weather to spend the majority of our lives outside, and where the pace of life is noticeably slower than here. We really don't want to go anywhere built up and are not bothered for loads of shops close to hand but within a reasonable distance. The selling point for our boys is by the sea with a bigger house than we could afford here.
A selling point for my oh is if there is a clay pigeon shooting range in the area..

Not asking a lot are we?
Any help would be appreciated.
Donna

Hiya Brisbane certainly did it for us ,we arrived for good in Nov with our 2 3&8(both blonde &light skinned) so far its been hot but not too hot ,we are renting a lovely house and are looking to buy around this area ,we are 35min south east from brisbane centre and 30 min to surfers paradise beach,we had a bog standard 3 bed semi in the uk and here can have an acerage plot,4 bed house 2 bath with pool etc we did notice they are more expensive the nearer the coast you go and we want to be mortgage free so here is ideal for us .The schools seem a little stricter than the uk but im sure thats a good thing,if i can help with anything just ask ,
Good Luck

Here come the questions!

Hello Cal
I'm full of questions so i hope you don't mind if i keep interrogating you?? Wow it's so exciting that you are actually there 'living the dream'.
Where did you live in the uk? Did you go out with a job offer? What did your oh do here?
How did you decide on Brisbane? Does it live up to expectations?
How do the children feel about the move? Was the 8 year old happy about the move and settling there? Although school is stricter (on behaviour i presume) does it seem more relaxed on work load and pressure?
I hope you don't mind all the questions!!!
Have a good day.

Donna - you sound like me at the moment, questions, questions, questions. We are only at the very start of the thought process and are not sure that we will even be able to get enough points, so I am reluctant to convince myself that it is what I want to do incase it is not possible :( I guess we are also looking around the Brisbane area - but obviously this is all hyperthetical
