New and a little unsure
Hi, am new to the site and am feeling a little out of my depth at the moment. Have recently come home from a trip to America and am feeling the holiday blues. The weather is so cold and rainy, the houses are so small.... you can't take the kids anywhere... blah, blah, blah.
So I then started thinking about moving to Oz. I have been there 3 times and my brother lives in Brisbane so I know what it's all about. However that little seed of thought won't go away so I am just starting to investigate the how's and why's etc. My only problem is that neither my husband or I have a trade as such so I am not sure if we would even qualify. We both have professional jobs that we have been in for over 9 years but I am just baffled about the job specs.
If anyone has any advice they can give me it would be very much appreiciated.

My advise would be to sit back and really think about the reasons why you want to emigrate . You are in a vunerable position having just returned from holiday to a cold and wet England . The weather is not a good enough reason to emigrate , and neither is the small size of houses . Try and look on a move from a non materialistic angle . You would need further advise as to whether you meet the migration criteria from an agent perhaps . Best of luck anyway .

This site offers you a free assessment re points - use that as a starting point if you decide to continue with a move. Also Phil Olsen can and will give advise on which route to follow if you don't achieve enough points. You can post or send him a PM he won't mind

Reading my post it would seem that these are the only reasons I have considered but there are others - just far too many to mention :? . I feel a big part of this is my children, my son loves football but is unable to play in our garden because it is too small, too cold, or water logged. It sounds a small example but the message behind it is bigger - I am just not getting it accross very well
I do agree with you that I need to take time to think, my list of pro's and con's is getting longer and I feel this decision will take me a good few months. I will just keep reading posts on this site and hopefully that will help me with the decision.
Thanks for advice!

Hi Tahe,
I didn't ready your post and think you were considering for the weather, I think I guessed some of the bigger picture which is probably the same for all of us, if we wrote every reason we wanted to go, the posts would run into pages, certainly the outdoor lifestyle is a plus. The process takes time anyway, and some people once they get their visa, validate it and wait a couple more years before moving.
Keep the thinking cap on and good luck

Thanks for reply, I will be sitting on things for a while (christmas is a good excuse aswell). I feel caught as well because as I said before, I am not sure we would even qualify so I could be getting myself all ready to go and not even be able to get in.
