Maternity care in Australia

I we are off to Australia in April and i have just found we are expecting our second child in July, just to add a bit more stress into the mix!

I am concerned that I am going to and up paying $1000 in maternity care as this is excluded for a year from all private insurers and I am not sure what is covered by Medicare. Any advice from those who had their child in Australia?

Don't worry the maternity care using Medicare is good. Although I'm passed that my grandchildren were all born in public hospitals and others I know have been very happy with the care they received. :)

So would medicare pay for all the medical costs of having a baby?
