Cos the only other bit I have seen is Melbourne in the Winter. Oh and it's vastly more impressive than London.
I can have a 4 bedroom detached house with a pool built for me for less than £300,000. I can live mortgae free for the rest of my life (i,m 34) and buy a couple of investment properties to boot.
I'm selling all I own in the UK to live in a place that the residents take pride in. I'm sick of taking my daughter to playgrounds that are covered in grafiti and broken glass.
The beach at Surfer's Paradise is like a beach you have never seen before.
Please don't burst my bubble and tell me there are better parts of Aus to live in

:D hi immy21 my husband and i have recently started things off in the hope that we can emmigrate to Aus. last week I got my skills assessment repy and accepted! This took about a month to get back.We are hopefully going out on my skills independant visa if granted. We are actually sat here getting quite stressed form filling. I'm trying to email and Alex is gettin narked doing the forms! The form filling, references, certified copies etc.. are doing my head in. My husband is getting right stroppy!Once the application form is completed I just need to get more certified copies of tons of things then I can post it off. Hopefully in the next week or 2 max. The other thing we want to do is include my mum on my visa, I hope this won't cause problems it's just that I thought it might be easier to do us all together with our 2 kids 8yrs and 13yrs. My brother has lived in Queensland for 18yrs but hasn't sorted his citizenship although he does have residency permit. I love the thought of big house pool no mortgage loads of sunshine. My sister-in-law moved out there 2/12 ago So fingers x for you and me both. Let us know how you get on. Jacqui

Hi Jacqui
Sounds like our life at the moment the forms are horrendous! But we are going to soldier on bit by bit.
My wife is a teacher so we are going in under her qualifications rather than mine. I hope it's quick.

I have to confess that I took one look at the form and decided that an agent wasn't too expensive after all. I have a tendancy to make a mess of forms and the thought of waiting six months only to have it returned because I'd misunderstood question 6(a) part 3 para b or something was too unpleasant :)

So - you have my respect for persevering :)

Hi Immy 21

We're just taking our first steps to in the whole process. We've just received a load of info from the visa bureau and we're hopeful of moving to Queensland in May 08. We share the same views as you in that we can live (relatively) mortgage free and give our kids a much better quality of life.

I'll be interested to hear of your experiences as the only other people that we know who have done this did it over 20 years ago.

Cheers

Brendan

DID YOU SAY YOUR USING VISA BUREAU? if so this is the agent we are using (nearly there now) i always asked for the paperwork up-front so you can have it filled in for when requested and send them back the same day ,they have been really helpful and quick going from our estimation and they ALWAYS answer your call ,,good luck

Hi Cal

The company is called Global Visas and they were recommended by a recruitment company that I've been speaking to in London. I'd be interested to hear any thoughts on this company if anyone has used / is using them.

I'm tempted by the Gold Coast too but my hubby is determined to watch the sun set into the ocean for the rest of his life. So Perth it is for us!
All the best with the forms, one thing they do prove is if you can do them and not fall to pieces in the process you're not stupid. (I don't think they want stupid people in Australia so hopefully none of the gits that destroy childrens parks will make it over there!)
Regards Beki
