Steve and Mandy check out realestate.com.au for rentals in Mount Eliza the suburbs next door are Frankston South to the north and Mornington to the South. East you have Baxter and Somerville all these areas are within 10 - 15 mins drive. These are the townships but there is also Moorooduc which is all acreage property.

Hi, we arrived in Oz two weeks ago and have just secured a rental property in Mount Eliza. Seems like a good place...our daugher goes to The Peninsula School which seems excellent so far. Mount Eliza seems quiet but friendly...time will tell. Anyone nearby?

Hi...only been here 3 weeks but are pleased with our choice of Mount Eliza. Small suburb with a good village centre...cafes / restaurants etc....and boutique shops plus servicable supermarket. Frankston nearby is where proper shopping would be done...washing machines etc. Very quiet..no night life...but again Frankston a stones throw away.
Beach un-developed..which is good and bad.
community centre with lots of acticities..french / book club / philosophy club as well as other stuff....tennis club x at least three....from ordinary to posh....gym with squash and classes (rudimentry but friendly..we have joined). can't find badminton club..neaest in frankston...2 x sailing club.
Houses quite a bit more expensive but nice...we have secured a 4 bed 2 living 1 study swiming pool house on large plot for $550 a week...many more expensive..three bedders cheaper.

Mornington also nice...buzzier but cheaper and many more shops..good sea front with peer and fantastic fish restauraunt. South Frankston nice suburb and a bit cheaper...frankston buzy and bustling but a bit chavy at night...we have been warned off letting our daughter roam there alone at night...not sure if it is as bad as they say though a copper did tell me his wife wouldn't roam there at night.

1 hr from Melbourne on train from frankston.

Are you in Oz yet?

Pete

Interesting, if your daughter is still at school I would not be letting her into Frankston at night either.

My children preferred to got to Mornington at night when they turned 18.

There is a nice Indian Restaurant in Somerville called Tulsi. Been around for a long time used to be in Frankston called Sidartha. They also have a winery and their wine is very nice.

The Frankston Arts Centre puts on some good shows sometimes, went to the Kiev Ballet recently and it was cut down of course but very good. The Symphony Orchestra plays their in September, you can join the mailing list its a popular venue.

If any of your children play a musical instrument recommend the Peninsula Youth Orchestra, my daughter played piano and violin and spent happy years with the Orchestra.

There are many people from the Arts around the Peninsula if your interested in that.

If you are interested in horses lots of opportunities for riding. Treehaven at Somerville, owner is one of our Olympians this year.

Yacht clubs are popular places for people too.

Forgetmenot,

May i ask where abouts do you live on the peninsula, as you seem to know a great deal about the area?

May i also ask about Somerville as an area, we have looked at this along with Mount Eliza as possible areas, does somerville have much there? are there good schools secondary especially as i have year 9 and year 6 boys (as of September) does either area have football clubs for the boys?

Thanks
Mel
