Hi Tracey,
Friends of mine live in Emerald. To me, it has a village feel and some good shops where everyone knows your name if you know what I mean!Lovely rural area great for kids.
IMHO it is very 'in the bush' and both friends live on dirt roads which are off the main road through (forgotten the name!).It is just the same as suburban housing in their area but without fencing and on sloping blocks with loads of trees. This adds to the Aussie way of living if you ask me. Loads of wildlife, Puffin Billy and great views
When I travelled to see them from Mt. Eliza, the main road from the highway was very windy (as in wiggly) and seemed a long road without lights and unless the sat nav sent me the wrong way I would defo take this into consideration when buying property there.
Hope this helps!
pm me if you want to know more.
