Possibly moving soon

Hi

I am new to this forum and have just recieved a request from the department of human services for a telephone interview for a job in Box Hill. Has anybody got any thoughts on areas to live, my partner will be working in the city and we have two children 5years and 8years so schools are important. Plus we live on the coast at the present so I don'y want to be too far from the water.

Thanks for any replies, plus if anyone has a copy of the bible(aka where to live in Melbourne to share I would appreciate it.

Hi there, I am quite new as well, my OH and I have become addicted to this site and have been reading a lot about the different areas as well we hope to go out to Oz in a week or so just for a look around, it's all a bit up in the air as his work are organising it, we like the look of Patterson Lkes and the areas around there like Chelsea but I really think you have to be in an area and feel if you like it you know. Hope all goes well for you, this all began from an e-mail and telephone interview for us as well, nothing is certain and it is all a bit scarey we have three kids 9,11 and 13 so like you schools are v important to us. I have moved quite a lot with my husband although never quite as far but love the challenges of meeting new people and seeing new places, I cant wait!

We live in Kilwinning although I come from 'the port' or Port Glasgow for the uninitiated my OH is from Rothesay, we lived in England for six years previous to moving here. Which part of Melbourne are you in? Did youmove over for a job or did you move over and then get work? Sorry if I am being nosey, we are just waiting for his work to get us all started my boys are really excited about the whole thing.

We moved here after I was made redundant in Scotland. My wife is a nurse so she had no problems getting a job. I had to start again by applying for jobs, it all takes time but is worth it.
We live in the Eastern suburbs in Ferntree Gully which is at the bottom of the Dandenongs & has the best shopping mall in Melbourne IMHO just 10 mins along the road.

As for Bev working in Box hill. Box Hill is ok & handy for the train into the city but has a quite high Asian population. Other suburbs within commutable distance I guess would be Nunawading, Ringwood, Glen Waverly or anything down the Belgrave train line.

I would suggest the south east suburbs if you want to be by the coast. Be mindful any further around the coast than frankston is probably a bit too far too commute to the city. Perhaps consider chelsea or Moordiallic and the surrounds they are quite affordable. I used realestate.com.au to search for properties.
