Hi Preston Lass,

We are in the same boat as you except I've got kids older and younger kids than yours so can't really comment on schools for their age group. Have a look on the victorian schools website. Most areas look ok for families but I'm sure there are places to go and not go to although I haven't read any bad one's yet. My OH is also a plumber, I have been told that he could earn about A$100 a day, however that's probably after he gets aussie qualifications after 2 years at evening school, so bare that in mind.
Have you looked at getting your provisional licence yet? If you haven't look here Plumbing Industry Commission, Victoria, Australia - Home Page we contacted a Nicholas Payne who said if we contacted him with a postal address he would send the necessary forms etc for this, nicholas.payne@pic.vic.gov.au .

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for this Helen, we are also being sponsored by victoria, sent visa application in November and still waiting to be sent for our medicals, they did tell us they were 3 months behind.
Will look in to this licence as i was told not needed in victoria.
When are you and your family looking to go over?

Hi guys,

We applied online with the help of our agent and have already done our pc's and med's, just need to get them over to oz. Well how long is a piece of string, as soon as we know we've got the golden ticket and whenever the house sells is the short of it, we were looking towards the end of this year but who knows!

Have you seen anywhere in particular you like the look of, my OH thinks I'm married to the computer at mo LOL it's only because he can't turn it on let alone anything else double LOLx.

I hope you find what your looking for and best of luck with everything else.

Helenx

Hi there, we live in Geelong, a fine choice and Highton and even finer choice, we have kids 6 and 8. We looked at Highton Primary, fantastic, Montpelier is good too. Actually we now live in Torquay, brilliant lifestyle, hard to choose between Highton and Torquay. Best of luck.

Hi Gail, not sure, but I know there is a skills shortage and trades are in demand. For rental and house price info go to Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au and put in highton. Rentals are a bit scarce. The best thing we did was stay at the Waterfront Apts when we arrived, great local, great weekly rate and local phone call inl

cheers

Fiona
