We've just returned from Brisbane and found the suburbs a bit too quiet and somebody has suggested Melbourne becasue it is busier-now i haven't got a clue! We've got a few kids under 16 and we like going out to the pub,cinema,concerts,theatre and restaurants.i'd like to be no more than 30 mins away from a beach and no more than an hour from the CBD.Is Melbourne the place for us?OH is a floor layer-is there work for him there?

I would definitely say that Melbourne is more busy than Brizbane. Got some friends who first lived in Melbourne and then moved to Brizbane. They liked Brizbane too but said that they preferred Melbourne - its a great city!
