Hi Gary,
We've lived in Patterson Lakes 4weeks now and it's got some beautiful houses almost everyone one owns a boat but us, it has a main shopping area for all your daily needs and a gorgeous beach nearby. It has a local Primary school my son goes too and seems to love it now, we viewed a few schools in dfferent areas and all the teachers here are so much more friendly, I really like that approach. My husband works in the city and it takes him about 45 mins/ to an hour in peak traffic, But theres a new motorway opening up in a month or so which should cut the jouney down by 10-15 mins. Anyway which major city doesn't have slow traffic at peak times, but he doesn't mind. We're rentng here at he mo which was a hassle to arrange when you first arrive as they have open viewings a set times and there might be 3 or 4people looking at the same house if all the applications go in it's the landlords decision who he wants. Not great when my hubby's new boss wanted him to start ASAP so when our app was accepted on this hose we had to grab it, not a bad choice considering we'd only been in the country 3 weeks. So we're set here for the next year and enjoying it so far, stil drive out to different areas on a weekend seeing where we'd like to buy. I like the look of Mornington, but it's a bit further for th hubby to travel to work or Frankston south it's at hestart of the Peninsular about 10mins from where we are now, a bigger town and houses are cheaper. We're just thinking at the moment that Patterson Lakes is abit expensive for what it is don't get me wrong it's lovely have seen areas offering more and cheaper. Oh, and there shouldn'tbe a problem getting out of a rental lease if you sign up for 12 months and decide you want to move. Ferntree Gully is really nice too!
Hope this helps abit.
Suey

Thanks Sue,
We are looking at Mornington also, but it just that little bit further to commute.
Patterson Lakes looks like one of the few 'new build' estates within Melbourne on the east side.
We will be renting for a year so I guess we will have the same problem.

Mr B is currently one of the postmen in Skye. It is an older town, between Langwarrin, Carrum Downs and Cranbourne. There are some newer areas being developed there. There is only a couple of shops but it's not far to drive to a bigger shopping centre. His opinion is that it's ok and he'd live there.

Seaford doesn't have the best reputation but some people like it there. It's all down to personal taste really.
